Jobe was in the ice bath after a brutal training session. The icy water soothing his sore muscles and his embarrassment.
Jobe didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that he had just been croqueta’d by Carney. It was normal to be tricked but for some reason, everyone on the bench decided that it was the funniest thing ever.
Jobe sighed and dipped half his head into the ice bath, trying to forget that moment. His face was slowly turning into its original color instead of the dark red it was.
However, the calming atmosphere was soon interrupted by a certain voice.
“Jobe~” Carney sung out in a teasing voice as he walked over to Jobe who let out a groan.
Carney Chukwuemeka. The most annoying guy on the team and probably the most handsome to Jobe.
“Carney leave me alone.” Jobe mumbled shifting his body away from Carney who was just inches away from him.
“What? You’re not still taking it to heart that I cooked you right?” Carney teased, nudging his shoulder against Jobe’s.
Jobe’s breath hitched as heat started creeping up his neck.
“You’re breathing down my neck mate.” Jobe coughed, trying to hide his now red face from Carney.
A slow, deliberate smirk formed on Carney’s lips as he put the pieces together. Carney slung an arm around Jobe, fingers dangling in the cold water.
Jobe froze.
“Carns, you’re all over me! Can’t I have my own space?” Jobe grumbled, turning his head to face Carney who was just inches away from Jobe.
A slow, mischievous smile played on Carney’s lips as an idea formed in his mind.
“Fine. I’ll leave you be...” Carney murmured, making Jobe raise an eyebrow.
“But..Before I leave—“ Carney planted a soft kiss on Jobe’s forehead. “There. Happy now?” Carney smirked before getting up.
“Don’t lose your head mate. Wrinkles don’t look good on you” Carney called out as he walked away.
Jobe sat frozen in place, trying to process what had just happened. By the time Jobe looked up to reply with a snarky remark, Carney had already left.
“That cheeky bastard.” Jobe whispered to himself as he pressed a hand on his forehead.
Jobe felt the warmth of Carney’s kiss which led to his face flushing a deep crimson.
“I can’t just let him get away with that..” Jobe thought to himself as he finally got out of the ice bath.
Jobe walked out to his car, absolutely knackered after today’s events. However, a figure stood next to his car waiting. Jobe didn’t need to get closer since already knew who it was.
“Carney! You alright?” Jobe called out, quickening his pace and reaching his car in no time.
“Carns?” Jobe mumbled, confused on why Carney was unusually quiet.
Carney slowly walked towards Jobe, lifting his head to meet Jobe face-to-face. Jobe saw how Carney looked uncharacteristically nervous and stepped closer.
“Jobe—“ Carney started before Jobe cupped his face with one hand.
“What?” Jobe smiled expectantly, already getting an idea of what Carney wanted.
Carney wasn’t exactly a stranger to Jobe’s teasing but usually Carney had the upper hand so this was new.
“Jobe..” Carney breathed, holding Jobe’s gaze.
“You gotta use your words mate.” Jobe said softly, eyes flicking down to Carney’s lips.
Carney’s brows furrowed in frustration, heat creeping up his neck. He broke eye contact, looking anywhere but at Jobe’s face.
Jobe chuckled at how flustered Carney was and decided to cut him some slack.
He tilted Carney’s face so he would face him once again and hesitantly kissed him. Shock flickered on Carney’s face before he quickly kissed Jobe back.
Carney grabbed onto Jobe’s waist, pressing their bodies against each other.
Jobe couldn’t help but smiling amidst the kiss.
They pulled apart, chests rising in uneven breaths as Jobe rested his forehead against Carney’s.
Jobe chuckled against Carneys skin. “Mate, you look like you’d combust if I kiss you any longer.”
Carney rolled his eyes, and took a step back. “Go home Jobe.” Carney smiled, a red flush visible on his skin.
Jobe slowly got into the car, reluctant to leave.
“Night.” Jobe called out before the car door clicked shut.
Carney smiled, knowing Jobe was probably blushing now after it ended.
“Night,” Carney mumbled, melting into the softness of Jobe’s lips as a cool breeze swept over him.
