Work Text:
It was late in the evening, the roads were almost completely empty as people knew better than to be out after dark in this part of town, it was quite dangerous after all. And anyone who dared to be out at this hour could definitely be considered the reason for that. Nom would know; he definitely was a part of this problem. That’s why, as he walked the baron streets, he wasn’t afraid. He had his own problems that he needed to solve. And today’s problem was definitely a personal one.
Nom stopped his casual stroll in front of one of the nicer apartment complexes in the area before he walked closer to the door. He could take the lock pic from his pocket and put the skill 4c tried to teach him to use, but why take so long when there was a much easier way? So instead he reached into one of his other pockets and pulled out one of his Knuckle dusters before putting it on his left hand.
The door in front of him had some glass panels along its middle, it may be considered fashionable but Nom would consider it nothing but stupid. He pulled back his hand and punched the glass with all his strength. On the first blow, it cracked. On the second, it shattered. Glass fell onto the entrance of the building. Then Nom reached through the new hole in the door and opened it on the inside, lazily walking through. Before shooting it again. Now he just had to find out which apartment he was heading to, thankfully they had a labelled post box system in this hallway. Another stupid mistake on their part.
As Nom walked up the stairs he noticed that the apartment doors were made out of wood, with no glass panels. It seemed he would have to use his manners this time. So once Nom found the apartment he was looking for he confidently knocked on the door. A moment later a woman looking to be in her mid-forties opened the door, immediately asking “How can I help you?” As she didn’t recognise him.
“I'm looking for an officer Larry, I believe this should be his address,” Nom said as he put on his most convincing smile.
“Indeed that would be my husband. He's in the other room whould you like for me to go get him?” The woman nicely offered, so trusting it was almost sad.
“I'd prefer to come in, as I have some business I'd like to discuss,” Nom said as he stepped into the apartment before closing the door behind him and pulling his gun from inside his jacket to point it at the woman, “Please, do lead the way”
The woman’s face morphed into shock before it quickly shifted to fear, how unfortunate this all was for her, under another circumstance, Nom might have felt bad, but not this time. The woman put her hands up and started walking to a room to the side with Nom following right behind.
“Honey, is everything alright-“ the officer started asking his wife as she walked in before stopping dead in his tracks as he saw the man behind her with a gun. Before he loudly demanded, “Who are you and what do you want?”
“What? Little old me? I'm just here to set something right.” Nom mocked the man.
“So what? I did something in my work that you don’t like and you’ve come to threaten my wife, that’s low. She’s completely innocent in this.” The man said, with way more confidence than appropriate. Trying to appeal to Nom's better nature, not this time.
“So is Scott.” Nom simply shrugged, he could see the man's eyes go wide in recognition at the name, “And today you decided to threaten him,”
“Honey, what is he talking about?” The woman asked, full of confusion and fear.
“Well, you see your husband here has been destroying evidence for Blue in exchange for a higher paycheck and his boss told him that if he didn’t get anything on Blue in the next week he'd be fired, so he was planning to sell someone out.” Nom coldly explained, with clear disdain in his voice.
“And then I would have continued working for you. It wasn’t a betrayal, just an insignificant sacrifice in the grand scheme.” The man spat. The moment after the first shot was fired right to the man's arm, incredibly painful but not deadly.
“SHUT YOUR MOUTH! You will not talk about him that way.” Nom angrily yelled. How dare this absolute waste of space. The wife gasped and started crying, while the man moved to hold his arm in pain as fear finally found its place on his pathetic face.
“Stop whaling.” Nom snarled as he still felt the anger coursing through his entire being. The woman didn’t stop, and Nom had had enough of her, he had something else to focus on. That's how the second bullet was fired, right through the woman’s chest, before she collapsed.
“Noooo” the man exclaimed in horror at his no longer breathing wife, before quietly whispering, “She was innocent”
“So is Scott. He didn’t want this life. Didn’t want to hurt people, but unfortunate circumstances forced him to be here, and instead of letting himself be corrupted by blue, he chose to become our medic, our doctor. He’s practically an angel among us monsters. And you piece of scum decided to threaten him. Telling him that he either went to the police and betrayed us or that you’d arrest him. You told him that he would rot in prison. Did that make you feel good? Like a strong man, picking on the weak.” Nom's tone was full of venom, before anything else happened he wanted this man to know exactly why it would happen. Why he was here. Why he should have stayed far away from Scott.
Nom then put the gun back in his pocket, he then took a box cutter that he saw on a side table of the room and lightly cut his own arm to the point where it would bleed but not actually hinder him. That was important for later. After that he redirected his attention back to the man and put on his Knuckle dusters, he still had some aggression he needed to get rid of and a death he wanted to make very very painful.

Scott had just been enjoying his evening. That’s not really true he was mostly trying to enjoy his evening. Trying to calm down. Ever since lunch when this other man working for Blue approached him he had been scared. Scott didn’t want to go to prison, if he wasn’t of use to Blue, it would come back to haunt his town’s mayor and then he would stop helping his father with the treatment. And if his father didn’t get the treatment, then he would lose the only parent he had left… the person closest to him. And Scott didn’t want that. He didn’t want to lose his dad too. He didn’t want to fail another person he loved.
But he couldn’t just betray Blue either. It would have the same outcome with the added negative that he would betray Nom. The first person to try and be his friend. To make him feel comfortable in his situation. Nom had been there for Scott since the very beginning, and Scott started to really like him. He just like Scott didn’t have a choice in the matter, with the only difference that Nom had been a part of Blue since he was a child.
That’s when he heard his doorbell ring, he guessed the police were finally here. To be honest, he had expected them more in the morning. When the guy would have gone back to the police station. But he’d feared that it would happen today. So Scott put his teacup on the counter and went to open the door. Though it wasn’t the police behind it.
“Nom?” Scott asked with confusion, before realising that if the police came right now, Nom would probably be arrested too. “You should leave, the police might c-“
Nom laughed to interrupt the blonde before saying, “Don’t worry Scott, the police are not coming for you. I made sure of that.”
Scott was stunned for a moment, what did Nom do? How did he even know? Why did Scott feel so much relief at that statement? Then Scott hesitantly asked “You promise?”
“Yes, that officer won't bother you ever again. I promise.” Nom said with nothing but pure adoration on his face, before he awkwardly shifted his eyes to the ground and awkwardly said, “I did kinda get cut while fixing this issue though and thought maybe the resident doctor would like to help?”
Scott immediately seemed concerned, “Come in. And why did you not lead with that?! Where is the cut?”
“It’s on my arm. And it’s not really that bad,” Nom shrugged as he sat down at Scott's kitchen table.
“Is it bleeding?” Scott asked from the other room where he was getting his first aid kit.
“Yes,” Nom responded with a small smile on his face. He found way too much enjoyment in Scott worrying about him.
“Then it’s bad, and I want you to come to me.” Scott berated, as he had every time before this.
“That's why I'm here. I promised I would come to you for any kind of injuries after all.” Nom said with a big-toothed smile.
“And I'm happy you did, now think you could roll your sleeve up for me?” Scott said as he sat down next to Nom.
“Anything for you Scott,” Nom said before suppressing the hiss his mouth was forming in reaction to the disinfectant on the wound. Scott moved to hold his hand with one of his own as a form of comfort for Nom, while continuing to carefully clean the wound with the other. This whole night was so worth it to Nom, and from here it could only get better.
