The Disastrous Adoption of Saiki Kusuo

Summary:

Yare yare. My parents are officially the weakest links in my defense strategy against a normal life.
My dad accidentally broke our television, refrigerator, and microwave in a single morning while trying to fix a leaky pipe. That afternoon, a slick businessman in a tailored suit knocked on our door. He claimed to represent a "Wayne Enterprises Global Exchange Initiative."
In exchange for letting me stay in America for one semester, they offered my parents a lifetime supply of top-tier smart appliances and a monthly stipend of imported sweets. Before I could telepathically force my dad to refuse, he had already signed the contract in tears of joy.
Now, I am sitting in the backseat of a sleek, black limousine, staring out the window at the familiar gloomy rain of Gotham City.

Chapter 1: Welcome to Wayne Manor

Chapter Text

The limousine pulled up to a gothic mansion that looked like it belonged in a horror movie. A dignified elderly butler in a pristine tuxedo opened my door, holding an umbrella over my head.

"Welcome to Wayne Manor, Master Kusuo,"

Alfred Pennyworth said, his voice smooth and entirely unfazed by my pink hair and green glasses.

"I have prepared your room. It is located in the east wing, quite far from the... noisier residents."

“Thank you. Please just call me Saiki”

I projected into his mind. Alfred didn't gasp. He didn't drop the umbrella. His internal thoughts merely read:

Ah, a telepath. I must ensure the grocery list includes extra dairy for desserts. Master Bruce's brooding is about to face severe competition.

I instantly liked Alfred. He was the only sane person in this hemisphere. Inside the grand foyer, a tall man with sharp blue eyes and a jawline carved from granite was waiting. Bruce Wayne wore an expensive sweater, looking every bit the billionaire playboy.

Surrounding him were three of his adopted sons: Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Tim Drake (Red Robin), and Damian Wayne (Robin).

"Welcome to Gotham, Saiki," Bruce said,

offering a practiced, public-relations smile. "I hope the flight was comfortable."

His external voice was warm. His internal thoughts were a military tactical briefing:

“Biometric scan initiated. He has no luggage. His posture is completely relaxed, yet his center of gravity never shifts. Tim's report said he can warp reality. I need to get a hair sample for DNA sequencing immediately”

”Don't touch my hair unless you want this mansion to become a public park”

I thought directly into Bruce’s brain. Bruce’s smile tightened by exactly two millimeters. The billionaire had met gods, aliens, and monsters, but having a teenager casually bypass his mental defenses while standing in his living room was clearly testing his patience.
