Peter stood there on the edge of Midtown High, his suit nowhere to be seen. It’s not like it was needed anymore. He threw it in Matt’s this morning. It was the suit that Matt helped make, so he deserved to have it back.
Tonight is finally the night he’s been waiting for. The night before his 18th birthday, well only for 10 more minutes. The moment it strikes twelve, Peter will finally fly. All he had to do was wait 10 minutes.
He’d given it a good shot, he had a good time but it didn’t fix…him. He still kept hurting people. So he had to go.
Little notes peak out of Peter’s backpack. Not many of course. Just the people who actually knew both of his identities.
April 10th, 2025
Peter was bleeding out right outside the broken down warehouse he called home. Some fucking guy thought ‘oh let’s shoot Spiderman cause he won’t let me rape a girl’. So obviously, he got shot. And the blood could not be staunched. Just his luck. He had made sure the girl had gotten home safe before trying to swing back to his warehouse. Might have been a bad idea thinking of it now, probably just made his side bleed more. Peter takes off his mask, hoping it might help him take a deep breath.
Peter looks down at the wound, seeing how deep it is. “Goddammit Peter,” he huffs out. He tries to walk into the warehouse before falling down onto the ground. Peter quickly puts pressure on the wound, desperately trying to get the bleeding to stop but he feels so deeply weak that he isn’t pushing very hard. Stupid malnourishment!
That’s when he hears the semi familiar stomping footsteps of Frank Castle, the Punisher.
“Fuuuuuck!” Peter groans. He did not have the energy to fight him for the 50th time this year. He tries to grab his mask but his vision starts to get spotty. And right as his vision goes fully black he can hear a confused “Spiderman?”
…
The moment Peter woke up, he realized 2 things. One, this isn’t his bed, it’s way too soft. And two, his mask is nowhere to be found. Peter nearly immediately tries to get up only to feel immense pain in his side.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Kid.”
Peter looks up to see the Punisher right in front of him.
“Hey…” Peter says nervously at the man.
The Punisher goes and grabs a cup of water then hands it to Peter. “Drink that.”
“How do I know you aren’t poisoning me?”
“Just drink it, kid,”
Peter glares before taking a sip. It soothes his throat before he body craves more, since it’s been a long time drinking water. He starts to chug the water before the glass is taken out of his hand.
“Sips, not chugging the whole glass, Jesus kid,” Frank mutters before putting some saltines in front of the kid.
Peter nibbles on the saltines a little, the food feeling nice on his very empty stomach. It had to be at least a week since he had last eaten.
“How the hell did you get shot?” Frank asks, now sitting down on a chair across the room from Peter.
“Some dickhead rapist,” Peter answers back, mouth full of saltines.
Frank nods. “Was that the guy I saw you webbed up when I found you?”
Peter nods. He drinks more of the water.
“Thanks for helping me, sincerely.”
“Yeah I’m not going to leave a kid in an alley way away from their house bleeding out,”
“Not a fucking kid,” Peter mutters under his breath.
“You are way too young to be saying that kind of fucking language. But you are also pretty young to be trying to get killed,” Frank says to him.
“I’m not trying to get killed. Most people aren’t trying to kill me except you.” Peter snarls back.
“Never wanted you dead. I just wanted you to mind your own business. And I don’t kill kids.”
“I’m not a kid. I’m 25.”
“Wow. Brilliant lie. Why don’t you tell me your real age before I find it out myself?”
“…17.”
Frank stays silent for a moment, glaring at Peter. “What the hell do you mean you’re 17?” He says in a calm, but almost haunting tone. The man then begins to pace, muttering something about Peter being what Frankie’s age would’ve been. Then he stops, staring at Peter again, anger flushing his face. “What the fuck is wrong with you?! What the fuck is wrong with your parents for allowing it?!”
“Don’t bring her into this. This was my decision and my decision alone. You are in no place to judge me, Murderer.” Peter turns cold.
Frank glares at the kid. “You should be doing kid stuff. You should be studying for the SATs, going out to parties, not being shot in the kidney!”
“I have a responsibility to this city, Mr. Punisher Castle. I have the ability to help people and I’m not going to stop just cause I’m a kid. I can’t sit back and let it happen when I know I can stop it.”
Frank stares back at Peter, mumbling “You're just like Red.”
“Now if you can excuse me, I should be going back to my house,” Peter says before trying to get up before just falling back down on the couch. “Or maybe not,” he mutters.
Frank, still processing the idea that Spiderman is a kid, sighs. “There’s not a way to get you to stop?”
Peter shakes his head aggressively. Frank goes and grabs something out of a drawer. A burner phone. He types something in before handing the phone to Peter.
“My number is in there. Just for emergencies, or back-up. Do not call me for any other reason. But I have a good feeling you don’t have anyone for back-up or help when you need it.”
“I won’t if you kill anyone” Peter mutters.
Frank glares at Peter again before saying “Fine. You have my word, if you call me, I won’t kill anyone,”
“Deal,” they shake on it.
“Just stay the night here Spidey, I got strong enough pain meds for you,”
“Peter.”
“Ok Peter, stay the night,”
“Ok sure,”
April 24th 2025
Peter sits down on the roof ledge, donning his civilian fit of a ‘I Survived my NYC trip’ and a pair of shorts as rain falls down slowly. Peter shoves his suit in his bag before looking out on the view of Queens.
Peter looks down on the ground, looking down at the 20 story fall for if he falls down. He could end it early. There really wasn’t anything going for Peter. He just lost his third job in the last year. Ned and MJ went back to MIT for the semester. He didn’t have to wait until his 18th birthday if he didn’t want to. He didn’t have to wait.
He stands up, teetering on the edge when he hears a voice from behind him.
“Are you sure you want to do that? I know dying hurts from experience.”
Peter turns around to see the one and only Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool.
Peter had seen Deadpool on a patrol or two but usually Peter was stopping Deadpool from killing people, so not really buddies but it’s not necessarily a bad relationship. Definitely not someone he wants knowing his real identity.
“I’m not going to jump,” Peter whispers.
“Yeah plenty of people just stand on the edge of roof ledges for funsies,” Deadpool quips back.
Peter sighs, sitting down. “You can go, Deadpool.”
Deadpool creeps closer to Peter, sitting down next to him but on the other side of the safety railing that Peter promptly ignored. “Wasn’t expecting a civilian to know my name, usually they just see a red guy with two katanas and run,”
“Wow I wonder why,” Peter mutters. “Why are you here anyway, shouldn’t you be out trying to kill people or something?”
“Yeah but the author didn’t want this fic to not be a 5 +1 fic so here I am,”
“…what?!”
“Now how about you get on the other side of this railing and I get you some Mexican food? No kid should be as skinny as you are if they are eating food,”
“I’m fine. You can go.”
“…Listen, I’ve been on the other side of this railing before, and yeah I’m not sure that will get better baby-cakes but I do know that your life has the opportunity to, so you don’t gotta jump,”
“How many times do I have to say I’m not going to jump?”
“Maybe if you were telling the truth I would believe you Sky-Diver,”
“Oh come on, Sky-Diver?! That’s just cruel,”
“If you weren’t gonna jump, you wouldn’t care,”
“Shut up DP,”
“I know I’m a murderer and I don’t have like a conscience but I have a strict rule of not killing kids or letting them die, so you might as well get on the other side of this railing before I force you onto it,”
Peter glares at the man. “Sure dude, I dare you to even try,”
Deadpool then grabs Peter under his arms and throws him onto the other side of the railing. Peter groans in a bit of pain before standing up. “Not cool dude,” Peter mutters.
“I don’t ever turn down a dare, kid’s Meal, ” Deadpool responds.
“I’m not a kid,”
“Whatever you say. Now let’s go get some food!”
Peter sighs, knowing there’s no point in fighting with him, grabbing his bag off the roof, his suit falling out of it. Peter tries to quickly grab it but before he can, Deadpool picks it up.
“What is this, some kind of cospla-“ and that’s when Deadpool actually realizes what this is. “You?!? You of all people, are Spiderman?!? You look unhoused dude! Aren’t you getting that sweet Avengers money?!”
“I am not unhoused and no I do not get ‘that sweet Avengers money’ literally half of them are dead,”
Deadpool looks Peter up and down. “Whelp reeaaal good thing I didn’t let you die huh?”
“I wasn’t going to jump”
“Sure whatever you say Spidey,”
“So you won’t say anything about me being a kid?”
“Nah I’ll probably just feed you more,”
“You don’t have to do that,”
“You’re not getting out of that, mini web slinger,”
“Please call me Peter, I don’t want anyone else to figure out my identity DP,”
“Oh but the Merc with a Mouth is fine?”
“Oh you don’t want to even know what happens when the entirety of New York City finds out I’m Spider-Man. Anyways you can’t be any worse than Frank Castle knowing,”
Deadpool laughs and the two of them finally get off the roof.
May 8th 2025
Someone stole his spot. In the warehouse. And there was no way the person was going to give up the spot he had. Peter couldn’t be anymore thankful that the other person didn’t steal all his shit. It’s the little things.
So with this terrible development, Peter throws his backpack over his back and starts his search for a place to stay for the night.
His search does not go well. After patrol, every ok spot was taken. So he had to go to Hell’s Kitchen, so far away from home. He finds a decently not shady corner after a couple hours of searching in the kitchen.
He looks around his bag for a first aid kit of some kind, just needing to clean the probably infected gunshot wound in his side, with his healing still being stunted and all.
“Shit. It’s not here.” Peter proceeds to let out a string of curses. He’s fine, he's fine, he's 1000% fine. His healing definitely should’ve healed it by now but it’s fine! Peter softly prods at the wound, letting the small bits of pain tingle up his body.
“Ok so maybe it’s not fine” he mumbles.
Suddenly he hears a door slam nearby him, and he hides more into the corner. The man is muttering about a guy named Matt, kicking a rock around.
“I should’ve just become a butcher,” the man mutters again.
That gets a little giggle out of Peter, as it reminds him of how Mr. Stark once treated him. God how he missed him. That giggle wasn’t a good idea.
The man freezes at the noise. “Who was that?” The man tries to make himself seem tougher than he is, despite the kind eyes and shaky hands giving him away.
Peter tries to stay silent but when he tries to shrink himself more, he ends up letting out a small groan.
That’s when the man starts to walk into the alley praying under his breath “don’t let this be a murderer” over and over again. The man looks all around, clearly expecting someone bigger, before his eyes land on Peter, right behind the dumpster.
“Hey uh kid, when did you get here?” The man bends down to Peter.
“I’m not a kid,” Peter mumbles, trying to make himself look taller.
The man eyes Peter, looking him up and down, clearly not believing him.
“Whatever you say. What’s your name?”
Peter decides to stay silent, not looking at the man.
“My name’s Foggy. Foggy Nelson.” The man holds out his hand for Peter to shake.
Peter suddenly realizes he knows who this man is. He was the other lawyer he worked with during the Spider-Man trial.
“You’re Foggy Nelson? As in Nelson, Murdock, and Page? Like the lawyers?” Peter asks.
That gets a laugh out of Foggy. “Yep kid. But enough about me. I was going to ask where your parents are. I have nothing else to be doing but helping you out tonight,”
Peter immediately looks away. “Listen, I know you think you need to help, but I got this. This isn’t my first rodeo and god knows it won’t be my last. I’ll excuse you of guilt. You can go home,”
Foggy fully sits on the ground. “It’s not about guilt. I want to help. If your running away from people or anything-“
“Oh no Mr. Nelson it’s nothing like that. I’m safe,”
“I wouldn’t say being on the streets is necessarily safe for anyone, let alone a kid”
“I’m 21, not a kid,”
Foggy obviously doesn’t believe the boy. “Who’s taking care of you kid?
“…no one.”
“Do you mean that literally or is that more of an abuse situation?”
“Literally. Lost my family after the Blip.”
“CPS after you?”
“Loophole. I have no legal documents so they don’t know I exist,”
“So practically emancipated. Listen, why don’t you come with me? I’ve got plenty of room at my house. It’s just me and my partner.”
Peter’s train of thought completely stops. “You don’t know me. Why would you want me?”
Foggy sighs. “I don’t want to know that there is a kid sleeping behind a dumpster in Hell’s Kitchen that I could've helped,”
“I don’t need help.”
“You couldn’t have convinced me of that ki- IS THAT BLOOD?!” Foggy interrupts himself.
Peter looks at his side to see that, yes, his bullet wound the very own Frank Castle helped fix, has reopened. Seems like he did a shit job. “Oh don’t worry Mr. Nelson, that's not a big deal at all!”
Foggy glares at the kid. “You are just like Matt,” he mutters before demanding, “Stand up right now if you can. I’m going to take you into the office and take care of that. Cause no way do you have insurance if you have no documentation.”
Foggy wasn’t wrong about that. Peter glares at Foggy. “I’m. Fine. You can go home now.” Peter grits out.
“You can’t stand, can you?”
Peter looks away before nodding.
“Ok. Cool. Great. I’m going to pick you up ok? Just tell me if it hurts or your uncomfortable but I’d rather treat that sooner than later,” Foggy says before picking Peter up.
Peter, despite wanting to with all of heart, doesn’t fight it, whether that be not wanting to hurt Foggy’s feelings or that he missed the human connection he doesn’t know. They eventually get up the stairs and Foggy puts Peter on the couch.
“I’m going to call my partner real quick ok? Just going to let him know of the situation before I bring you home!” Foggy calls out to Peter as he looks for the First Aid Kit.
“Foggy. What do you mean you just found a homeless kid with a gunshot wound” Peter can hear Foggy’s partner say over the phone.
“I mean exactly that. Set up the guest bedroom for him. I’ll set him up there after I get his medical situation figured out.” Foggy whispers back.
“No Foggy I’m coming to help. He could’ve been trafficked Foggy, or a part of a gang or something,” the man talks on the phone.
“Matt. The kid won’t even tell me his name. He does not need another person here. I’ll figure this part out. Just don’t go out for me tonight.”
The man on the phone sighs before saying “fine. But you better be here soon.”
Foggy whispers “That’s the plan.”
Foggy hangs up the phone, walking back up to Peter.
“Would you mind lifting up your shirt for me?” Foggy asks.
“Mr. Nelson I can really do this myself; it's not that big of a deal, just some stitches popped out-“
“Just let me see it, Kid.”
Peter sighs before lifting up his shirt, but quickly realizes he’s wearing his suit underneath. Fuck. Clearly he was more out of it than he realized.
Foggy freezes, looking at the suit and back at Peter at a rapid rate.
“Please say you’re not Spider-Man,” Foggy whispers.
“I don’t think you want me to lie.”
“You’re like 14!”
“I’m 17! That makes it a lot better!”
“No it doesn’t!”
Peter starts to look away before muttering “Do you want me to leave?”
That makes Foggy pause. “You thought that would be the dealbreaker to helping you? No kid, I do not want you to leave, I want you to leave less than ever before” Foggy sighs. “Is anyone helping you out with this?” Foggy asks, going to lift the boy's top half of his suit off, hissing when he sees it.
“…no. They died a while back,” Peter mutters.
“How long has this been infected?”
“No longer than a week,” Peter hisses as Foggy cleans the bullet wound.
An oddly comfortable silence falls over them as Foggy rewraps Peter’s side.
Once Foggy finishes Peter says “Thank you sir, but I should get out of your hair,”
Peter stands up but Foggy grabs his arm. “Kid. My offer at staying at my place still stands,”
Peter pauses in his tracks. “Did you not hear the part that I’m Spider-Man?”
“I heard that loud and clear, but that doesn’t change anything, might actually make me want you more at my house instead of on the streets. If you’re injured and homeless, you can’t help people as well, even though I don’t want a kid doing it, someone might as well help,” Foggy tells him.
“…ok. Thank you. I’ll be out of your hair soon I promise,” Peter says.
“Two conditions if you’re living in my house though,”
“Yeah?”
“I gotta first know your name and 2, you gotta tell me if you're injured. Got it?”
Peter laughs softly. “Got it. The name’s Peter,”
Foggy smiles. “Nice to meet you Peter. Now how would you also feel about interning at Nelson, Murdock, and Page?”
May 22nd 2025
The law office was great, fantastic even though he wasn’t paid a ton. It definitely made being Peter more manageable. The amount of relief he now felt now he could talk to someone who wasn’t criminals or vigilantes that were practically criminals, like Deadpool and Punisher (though he didn’t mind their company).
Almost made him want to not kill himself. Key word almost.
Even though Peter loved the law office and loved just interacting with people, he still had to keep his distance. Which nobody really noticed. Obviously Foggy thought he knew more than most why he was more distant, Peter being Spider-Man and all, and Matt seemed more involved with something else, though Peter didn’t quite know what exactly it was.
Well, except Karen.
To be truthful, Peter wasn’t surprised that Karen pried a lot more than the others had, she was an investigative journalist for god’s sake, (And a really cool one. She did an article about Peter actually during the whole ‘Spider-Man killed Mysterio thing’ that really helped prove he was innocent) but he really wasn’t expecting the CONSTANT questioning.
It wasn’t like it was rude questioning or anything but she did seem very suspicious about what Peter was doing outside of the office. And Peter was pretty good at dodging the questions that he knew he couldn’t answer, like “Oh where did you get that bruise?” Or “How did you know that guy was going to take a swing at us?” Or “How come you don’t eat a lot?”
But of course it comes to a head when Foggy and Matt leave work early saying they need to do something very important by themselves. (Peter assumes it’s sex. Or maybe it’s Foggy fixing up the window from when Peter crashed into it last night.) So Peter and Karen are the only ones in the office as Peter tries to fix the office Coffee machine and Karen is typing up something law related.
And Peter then drops the Coffee pot. And the only thing going through Peter’s head is, I can’t get fired from this fucking job because of a coffee pot.
So of course Peter, not in his clear head, drops himself by the glass shards and picks them up, his hands bleeding in the process.
Breaths seem to come harder to Peter, he could swear he was dying. He can hear a voice but it’s hard to hear over his thudding heart beat.
He stands up but staggers away, a little unbalanced as his breath becomes quicker. He can’t be fired he needs the money he needs the people he’ll get kicked out he’ll be on the streets again he can’t be on the streets again he can’t do it- He feels something cold pressed against his hand all of the sudden.
He’s pushed back into his body and he looks up at Karen.
“Hey Peter there we go, can you try and take a deep breath for me?”
Peter stutters a breath in, shaking his head aggressively.
“You can Peter,” She starts taking exaggerated breaths for Peter to copy and after about 5 minutes, she finishes calming him down.
The cuts on Peter’s hands are barely bleeding now, the glass being pushed out by his healing factor. He guesses that eating a bit better has helped his healing factor a bit.
“Can I bandage your hands, Peter?” Karen says, voice way too soft.
He nods softly. “I’m sorry I broke the pot,”
Karen shrugs. “It’s fine Pete, This is like the 15th one we’ve gone through in a year,” Karen laughs.
Karen leads Peter to a chair before grabbing the first aid kit and wrapping a bandage over his hands.
“Peter…why did you panic?” Karen asks nicely.
“No reason it was just a weird one off thing I swear,” Peter tries to stammer out.
“It’s just, a lot of people who are mistreated might act like that when something like that happens,”
“Are you implying I’m abused?!” Peter seems confused.
“Well, this isn’t the only the only sign of that Peter,”
“Like what else?!”
“Well you’re secretive about your life and past, more than a normal person. The only other person I’ve seen like that is Ma- an abused friend of mine,”
“I’m not being abused, And I’m not being overly secretive about my past!”
“You are 17 and was living alone on the streets,”
“That’s not my fault!”
“I don’t think you understand the point of this conversation. I’m not blaming you for any of this. You are just also covered in bruises and scratches and Foggy found you with a gunshot wound. You cannot say that’s normal though! It’s worrying,”
“The bruises aren’t a big deal! I just fall a lot!”
Karen sighs. “You can trust me. I’m just worried about you and we can help you if you are in danger,”
“I’m not in danger!”
“Peter…”
“No one has ever abused me! My family was great, until she died! And the injuries, well…I’m Spider-Man!”
There is a small bit of silence before Karen says, “I’m so sorry,”
Peter just looks at the ground. “It’s fine. It was almost a year ago,”
There’s a silence that comes over before it finally clicks to Karen. “Wait I’m sorry…Did you say you were Spiderman?!”
“...yeah please don’t fire me,”
“That was never an option, you’re a kid for god’s sake.” Then another thing clicks for her. “That’s why you panicked!”
“You don’t care that I’m Spider-Man?”
“Yeah I’m assuming Foggy couldn’t convince you to not be Spider-Man so I don’t think I’ll stop you either, maybe Matt will have some luck,”
“No, no way,”
June 5th 2025
Peter has been living in Mr. Nelson’s and Mr. Murdock’s house and working at their company for about a month now and it’s definitely weird.
Foggy and Karen have sworn up and down that he wouldn’t tell anyone Peter’s superhero identity which has really helped the whole ‘people I care about always die or disappear’ thing he’s got going on. But he can’t stop this sneaking suspicion that Mr. Murdock knew more than he let people know.
Peter remembered Mr. Murdock the most clearly from the Spider-Man trial, but of course he doesn’t remember him. There was definitely something odd about the man though. It made Peter curious, as it seemed for physical capabilities, he was quite similar to Peter. Clear super senses but maybe that just came with blind people?! Peter didn’t see that in any of his research of how to be a good guest to a gay blind person and his partner though. And Matt didn’t always seem to be home when Peter got off patrol which was suspicious within itself.
But that wasn’t the most concerning thing in his life right now, as Daredevil has been following him nearly every patrol. Peter nearly shit himself the first time that he spotted Daredevil on patrol. He didn’t need another kind of violent vigilante in his life right now, the Punisher was enough. So Peter has been doing his best to avoid Hell’s Kitchen.
Peter sneaks out like he does every night. Foggy has gotten used to it and Mr. Murdock just probably didn’t notice so it was fine overall. He does his normal nightly patrol over in Queens, stops some criminals before heading back towards Hell Kitchen. But that’s when he hears a human trafficking ring nearby, or more accurately a child trafficking ring.
Peter knows that, yeah Daredevil was probably already there, but it never hurts to help. And that means he won’t be able to stop him, so, of course Peter swings over.
Daredevil hadn’t gotten in there yet so Peter just starts fighting the fucking pieces of shit. He webs up as many criminals as he can, getting hit and thrown against walls. Probably so much so that he has a concussion but eventually he gets all the criminals, only left to try to find the kids. And that’s when Daredevil finally arrives.
“Leave Peter.”
“How do you know my name?!”
“Did you not hear me? I said leave.”
“I’m not leaving the crime scene before finding the kids, the whole point of me being here!”
“You’re injured. Go. Home.”
“Psh, I don’t know what you’re talking about Mr. Daredevil,” As Peter says that, a wave of nausea hits him and he bends over, not puking though. “You keep” he dry heaves “avoiding on how you know my name,”
Daredevil sighs. “That doesn’t matter Peter. You shouldn’t even be out at all.”
“Just cause you believe you own Hell’s Kitchen doesn’t mean you can kick me out!”
“That isn’t the issue. Just go home,”
“Then what is the issue, Daredevil?!”
“It’s more that you are a kid, Spidey. A kid who shouldn’t have even started this in the first place!”
Peter glares at the man. “Then clearly you don’t understand the concept of responsibility as much as I thought you would,”
Daredevil scoffs at Peter before saying “We can talk about this later but right now, you’re benched.” Daredevil then pushes Peter onto a nearby bench before running off to grab the kids.
Peter pouts for only a moment though before he pushes down his dizziness, running towards Daredevil, listening to the cries of kids.
...
Despite Daredevil’s protests, Peter ended up helping him out, and with all the creeps around, Daredevil needed the help.
That doesn’t keep Peter from getting chewed out by the vigilante.
“What part of ‘stay here’ do you not fucking understand, Peter?!” Daredevil yells at the boy, and Peter, despite trying to listen to the older man, can’t pay attention with the bright lights and Daredevil’s shitty fake deep voice.
“Stop calling me that in public dude!” Peter whisper-yells at the man.
Daredevil pinches the bridge of his nose. “You not only hurt yourself but put other people in danger with your negligence! And you keep doing it! This is why kids shouldn’t be doing this shit! You are going to get yourself killed!”
“Oh like you are soooo much better! I’ve seen you in dumpsters before, I at least haven’t stooped down that low! And you clearly needed my help back there!”
“I’m an adult, I can handle myself. You are a child.”
“I am not!”
“Don’t even try that with me!”
Peter sighs before just saying “It doesn’t matter what you say right now, I’m not going to stop.”
Daredevil huffs at Peter. “You are just a kid. A kid with a future. I’ve heard you speak in the office, you are so bright! Hell you fixed our 20 year old printer within 5 minutes even when experts said we would just have to buy a new one. And I get it, you want to help people, that much is clear when you're around me and when you are patrolling. I probably get it more than anyone else, but to throw away your life at this age is mental. You deserve better than this shitty vigilante business,”
Tears start to prick in the corners of Peter’s eyes. “It’s too late for me to become anyone else and you know that. I can’t quit now. The city needs me even more than when I started. It’s Spider-Man or nothing. And I’m not going to let people down by quitting,”
Daredevil pauses. “Is that really all you think of yourself?”
“You didn’t know of Peter Parker until Mr.Nelson brought me into your home, did you? And most people wouldn’t have even blinked an eye at a Peter Parker on the streets. But a Spider-Man? Well that’s someone to look at. Nearly a perfect reputation besides the whole Mysterio murder thing, Spider-Man is a hero. He helps the little guy like Peter out, even if he amounts to nothing. And I know you know something about that, Mr.Murdock.”
Daredevil/Matt sighs. “I do. But if you do continue this, I’m training you, cause you are a little shit at it.”
“Fine.”
August 9th, 2025
Only a couple minutes until everyone was free from him. He sits on the railing, almost feeling giddy, kicking his feet out. He could see Aunt May again, if he doesn’t go to hell for trying to kill Green Goblin. Peter did wonder how New York would do without Spider-Man but he did make the other vigilantes promise that if Peter ever died, they would cover queens for him, so hopefully someone else, someone more capable will become a vigilante.
His burner starts ringing and Peter grabs it out, seeing Frank is calling him. He has a couple minutes until his timely death.
“Hey Mr. Frank, is everything ok? Do you need backup?”
There’s a silence on Frank’s end before he says, “Why are you on the roof without your suit, Peter? Do I need to get you?”
Peter’s breath quickens. No one was supposed to know. “Are you watching me?”
“Yeah, you’re a kid. I don’t fully trust that you’ll be safe, like right now. Now want to tell me why you’ve been on this roof for so long?”
“I’m just uh scouting out good swinging buildings,”
“Ok you’ve done it enough then. Come down, I’ll drive you back to Matt’s house. I’m just right outside of the building,”
“...Can I have another 2 and a half minutes?”
“How about I just come up there and get you down?”
“I’m on top of buildings constantly Mr. Castle, this is just the same thing,”
“And I don’t approve of that either,”
“I’m fine, Mr. Castle,”
Peter then goes and hangs up the phone. His plan was falling apart. It would just have to be a little early. That’s fine. Until footsteps approach behind him.
“Kid, do you wanna come onto the other side of the railing?”
Peter turns around to see Matt, donned in Daredevil attire.
“Cool, cool, Frank brought the whole crew here,” Peter mutters. “You can just go home Matt,”
“I’m not fully sure that’s a good idea, Peter. I don’t think Frank would’ve called me if he wasn’t worried about you,”
Peter looks at his phone. 11:55. He just has to stall Matt for 5 minutes and he’s home free. Easy. He does this with criminals all the time.
“You’ve multiple times said that Frank shouldn’t be trusted but suddenly you want to trust him now?” Peter quips back.
“I’d be more willing to believe you if your heart rate wasn’t through the roof. So why don’t we come onto the other side of the railing, and I can take you home and we can talk about next steps?” Matt steps closer towards Peter, slowly.
“Matt, there isn’t any need for next steps, ok?”
“Is that because you aren’t planning on coming off this roof alive?”
“Cause I’m not suicidal Matt!”
Frank, finally up the fire escape, says “Could’ve fooled me kid.”
“It doesn’t matter guys!”
Matt and Frank immediately uproar in disagreement to Peter.
“Why the hell wouldn’t it matter?! You’re a kid for fucks sake!” Frank yells. Matt elbows Frank, decently hard.
Matt creeps a little closer again to Peter, now in arms length, leading Peter to scooch a little away from him.
“What’s going on in your head?”
“My deep desire for you two to leave,”
“Oh Peter Pan! What did I say about going onto rooftops!?” Wade skips into the scene.
“You three actually,”
Frank is muttering in the background about this somehow not being the first time Peter is on the roof as Wade goes into Peter’s backpack, because he can’t respect anyone’s privacy after taking them to get Mexican food.
“Bad news Double D’s and Pirate flag, Peter Pan got some last words type notes in here,” Wade reveals to the group, passing the notes out, as Peter just groans, checking his phone again with 3 minutes left.
“Suicide is a private thing, Wade” Peter mutters out.
“Oh Heathers reference, nice!” Wade calls out as everyone else is confused as always.
Peter tried to resist the urge to jump right away as Frank absolutely plowing through the kindness to wait to read his note before dying but he promised himself he would wait until he was 18.
“Pete. Get off the ledge please. I know you think this is protecting us, but that's not your decision to make, ” Frank tells him sternly, as everyone seems to creep closer.
“Shut up, Frank. You don’t understand. I can’t live like this anymore!”
“Then we’ll fix it Peter. That’s why we’re here,” Matt responds.
“You can’t bring her back! You can’t make people remember me! So if you could just leave me to my death, that would be swell!”
That's when Peter’s alarm goes off. “Thank you guys for all the things you’ve done for me, handle queens for me,” and Peter then falls backwards and despite their efforts, no one is able to pull Peter back.
He looks up at the sky as the lights of New York surround him. To be surrounded by the city he devoted his life to was almost symbolic, that the last thing he would see is New York City. He just hoped as he died that they would be able to move on from him.
But right before he hits the ground, he falls into arms, seemingly Foggy’s as he can hear his voice, greatly softening his fall onto the ground as he knocks whoever is holding him down. He then is promptly knocked out.
