The group was told to come here by Stratt herself, which was a little concerning considering she wasnt in the room with them, some of them doubted she was even in the building. The room they were in consisted of 2 couches leaned up against one wall, and a big flat screen tv covering the entirety of the opposite wall.
They were all sitting on the couch almost awkwardly, before Grace spoke up
“Does anyone know why we are here, without Stratt?”
“I dont think any of us know, Dr. Grace.” DuBois replied in his normal honey-like voice.
Before anyone else could reply, the TV turned on, words appearing in Mandarin, Russian and English, “Hello crew of Project Hail Mary, you are here to ‘react’ to Eva Stratt’s past.”
“Wait a minute, why would we need to react to Stratts past, did she consent to this?” commander Yao interrupted, a look of almost concern flashing across his features
A voice crackled through the speakers mounted into the walls near the tv, it was Stratt
“Commander Yao, i did indeed consent to this.” she sighed, “you all will be fine, it wont take long.”
The group glanced at each other before Ilyukhina started speaking, “Well stratt says its fine, than its fine! We should start watching, yes?” she said eagerly next to Yao, her usually optimistic keeping the spirits high throughout the rest of the crew
Before anyone else could respond, the TV flickered to two(2) photos, one of Stratt currently and the other one seemingly from the past, in the past her hair was shorter and dark brown rather than her current strawberry blonde, the most noticeable change was that past stratt was smiling brightly with.. Hospital scrubs on?.. That confused them the most, considering none of them thought that Stratt of all people would work in a hospital.
“Are those hospital scrubs?” Shapiro asked, confusion crossing her features,
No one answered, what would they say? After a few seconds the pictures changed to a video- an edit?? Who would edit stratt when she was younger?? It was so confusing
The edit was a compilation of clips of Y!stratt (younger stratt) with the song “Love Grows” playing in the background, it was kinda sweet.
None of them said anything said anything as it ended, so the next one played, this time with audio of her talking
“Dont fuck with me, and dont fuck with your daughter.” she said in the clip “oh, and… i expect an excellent patient satisfaction score. Get well soon, Mr. Dunn.” she added, before the rest of the edit played, Grace waited until the edit ended to speak
“Uhm- her accent is missing in the clips, and also who was she talking to?”
