Soft hands on his shoulders, gently pushing him up so he was sitting. A warm touch up and down his spine, comforting words and gentle kisses to his temple.
He brought a hand to his chest, trying to force his breaths to slow and deepen, and after a minute or so he was able to get them to.
“What’s wrong, Jeremy? What happened?” A finger and a thumb on his chin pulled his gaze towards his partner's furrowed brow and frown.
And the last thing he had wanted to do was worry Jean, so he shook his head and put on a smile, and said, “Nothing, I’m fine. I just had a weird dream and —“
“Don’t do that. Not with me,” Jean held his gaze, not allowing Jeremy to look away. Not letting him take the easy way out.
Jeremy sighed, and Jean let his chin drop.
With his gaze on the comforted, he said, “I just —“
But then his throat closed up and his eyes heated and all he could choke out was, I’m sorry, before he was crying again.
