Fart fart fart. Burp burp burp. Bark bark bark? Meow meow meow.
"You ever had licorice before?"
Hummer asked out of nowhere as they walked together towards a cliff overlooking the ocean.
"Uhh.." Wifies paused, slowing down his pace to go through his memory hardware. "Not really. " He looked back at Hummer, quickening up his pace to match his.
Hummer huffed, "You've never tasted paradise then. " He sighed as they finally arrived to the cliff.
And wow, talk about perfect timing; They had just arrived for the sunset!
The sky looked beautiful— dark blue hues mixing with the deep orange radiating from the soon-to-sleep sun, a soft pink tint manifesting as the two colors mixed. The clouds seemed thinner than usual; Almost unoticable when paired with the other dominant colors.
"Crazy timing huh. " He glanced at Wifies, trying to catch a glimpse of his reaction.
Wifies was mesmerized, he had never seen a sunset this beautiful before. "Wow." He covered his mouth, there was no way he was this impressed by a sunset!
Hummer sat down at the edge, patting the grass next to him, inviting Wifies to sit with him— And so he did!
Wifies' eyes filled with amazement, he genuinely wasn't able to believe what he was seeing.
Hummer giggled at Wifies' amazement before searching for a packet with two pieces of black licorice in his pocket. "So. " He ripped the packet open, "Wanna try one? " He pulled the licorice strips apart, reaching to give one to Wifies.
"Sure." He grabbed the piece Hummer had on his hand for him. "I don't see why not. "
Hummer was thankful licorice was so easy to share, unlike other things. Although him and Wifies had only spent a few weeks together— They really had a lot in common.
- Their fascination for "strange" stuff.
- Their way of talking (kind of)
- How much they both researched a topic they got interested into.
- Their way of researching
He laid down on the grass, thinking about everything they had done together.
How close Wifies was to giving up multiple times.
How forgiving he was.
How fast they'd both just.. Yell at each other for the smallest of things.
Then just reconcile in less than 2 minutes.
How cute Wifies was.
Who said that.
The way that their plans always collided, yet, would always work somehow.
Their 'friendship' was so lovely for Hummer. It was so dear to him.
Ever since Arronax, his ex-bestfriend, had just left him like trash in a dump— It has been pretty hard for him to trust someone again in a friendship.
He didn't know how Wifies was different. He didn't know why he trusted him so much. Why he would forgive him so fast..
He didn't know a lot of things.
But if he didn't tell Wifies now... When would he?
Wifies laid down next to him, "Heyy? Helloo.. Anyone at home? "
Hummer jumped at the sudden voice. "Oh! Uh.. My- My bad. I-I was dozing off.. "
"It's alright! Don't worry man. I haven't eating your- The uhh, the piece you gave me. " He stretched his right arm upwards, the licorice strip waving and the soft, short gushes of air. "I thought all licorice were red I'm not going to lie to you.. "
"So did I. Eternally grateful that I found out about black licorice. Genuinely life changing. " He pulled out the other licorice strip from the packet. "I haven't eaten mine either. "
"We should probably eat them.. " Wifies thought out-loud while looking down at the dark licorice strip.
Hummer sighed, "guess you're right. " He said before taking a bite out of his strip.
It was chewy, he wondered for how long it had been in his pocket.. Hopefully not too long for it to go bad.
Wifies bit his piece not so long after Hummer. The taste taking him by surprise.
It was.. Nothing like he expected: It was sweet.. A hint of herbs lingered as an aftertaste.
He had expected a bitter taste, or maybe sour in a way that a lemon could never.
It was.. Strange.
There was a bit of salt. It wasn't string enough to beat all the other flavors, but not weak enough to not be able to taste it; All the flavors, ingredients, and everything else were just.. So harmonized.
Hummer was right. He'd never tasted paradise.
"Y-you know, Wifies... " He looked at the latter. "I-.. I don't wanna make this awkward o-or anything but.. "
"What is it? "

“I think I.."
He swallowed
"Have a crush on you. ”
The waves crashed against the hard stone below the cliff.
Some seagulls called loudly somewhere.
The gusts of wind made the forest creack eerily. The grass gracing against both of their bodies.
He had messed up, didn't he?
The sun was finally about to dissapear into the horizon. The deep dark blue taking over the sky. What was he supposed to do now?
Wifies sat up, " Stand up. And take that television off your head. " He demanded, there wasn't any type of authority behind it, but Hummer still obeyed.
He slowly took it off, his face getting hit with the cold air. He sat up straight again, his face scorching hot, tears starting to build up in his eyes out of embarrassment.
"I'm.. I'm sorry... "
Hummer couldn't bring himself to look up.
Any second now...
Wifies would apologize.
Tell him he only saw him as a friend.
Maybe laugh.
Maybe leave.
...
Anything would be better this horrible silence.
Maybe they wouldn't be able to see Levi together.
But instead.. Wifies grabbed his head, pressing his lips against Hummer's.
It was sweet. Sweeter than the licorice lingering on his tongue.
Hummer melted into the kiss quicker than Wifies would've expected. His face felt like it was in flames.
Out of all possible outcomes.. This one was the one that he less expected.
He expected a harsh "No", a heartbreak that would kill him even if he expected it.
He didn't think Wifies would ever feel the same.
He never did.
They separated after a few seconds. It was quicker than Hummer would've liked.
His heart was beating at abnormal speeds. Panting with adrenaline.
“Thank you for telling me. ”
Wifies hugged Hummer tightly, like if he was going to dissapear if he let go.
He then threw his whole weight on Hummer.
They both fell down, a soft thump echoing around. Hopefully nobody heard that.
" You're welcome. " He said before pulling down Wifies' jacket and turtle neck to kiss his neck.
The end, idk what to add.
