Summary
When they were six and eight, Rin had taken a nose dive into the sandpit at their school while waiting for Sae after they had been dismissed. It had been a rainy day and the sand had clung to his scalp like a tick. Sae had held his hand and they ran home as fast as they could, to the best of their ability, he had snuck Rin into the bathroom while their parents worked around the house and had washed his hair wordlessly.
His palms were wide and smooth, splayed across his scalp they ran gentle circles in his hair, the sand slipped down his head and onto his shoulders, the water ran dark, he felt like Sae had absolved him of something then, and the proof was splattering around his little body, murky brown, dirty.
