The Order
September 19th, 2007
Satoru Gojo, Jujutsu High School
“They expect me to execute Suguru?” Satoru asked, his voice trembling with a different kind of rage for these… these cowards that call themselves leaders. Although he would admit Suguru had committed quite an awful crime, he could not imagine that he would have to be the one to carry out this awful order so soon. It felt personal.
Targeted.
Like they had waited until there was only one person left who could do it.
More than a month had passed since Suguru had massacred a small village of 112 residents, leaving the higher-ups infuriated and his friends reeling with what seemed like an impossible deed from such a seemingly sensible man. Satoru concluded that, having finally acquired the full extent of the Gojo clan’s power, there was no one else Headquarters could have realistically sent to execute the new special grade curse user.
Satoru sat on the edge of his bed, in a dorm room that felt all too empty, reading the letter that was delivered to him early this morning by Yaga in his office, a dreadful weight pressing down on the room. His eyes scanned the sharp handwriting, fuming at the audacity— how could they?
By order of Jujutsu Headquarters
Following the confirmed massacre of 112 civilians and the abandonment of Jujutsu High, Suguru Geto has been designated a Special Grade Curse User and sentenced to immediate execution.
Should you encounter the above individual, you are authorized and directed to carry out the sentence without delay.
Issued under the authority of the Jujutsu Inspector General
Jujutsu Headquarters
He tossed the letter to the side, electing to pretend it did not exist. Deciding that a walk and some fresh air might clear his head, Satoru shuffled around his room attempting to find something suitable for the cooling summer weather outside. He grabbed his phone from his bedside table, throwing on a plain white t-shirt, sweatpants and a pair of sneakers. As he closed the door behind him, he noted that he would need to grab some food on the way back, he had not eaten in a couple days.
He stepped out into the hallway, pausing momentarily to cast a sideways glance down the hall at Suguru’s old dorm door. It was slightly ajar with cardboard boxes sitting by the entrance, filled with belongings that were being taken away as “trash”. He walked past it, his mind making a show out of unwelcome memories that made his shoulders sink and his heart feel heavy. The empty doorway reminded him of another afternoon when Suguru had tried to escape him down this same hallway.
Sprinting down the hallway, he tried to catch the quicker black haired boy before he could disappear into his room— so making a last ditch effort to reach him, he launched himself forward, tackling Suguru to the ground. “You lose, slowpoke!” Satoru screeched triumphantly, making the younger one cringe at his volume. The older boy was loud and obnoxious, but in a way that Suguru found quite endearing… most of the time. This was not one of those times. “I get it, I get it— now get off of me would you? You’re hurting my back.” He grumbled, attempting to dislodge the large, loud nuisance he called his greatest friend.
Satoru straightened up as he walked past the cleaned out dorm, fixing all his attention on going on his walk. As he passed down the overly-air conditioned hall, he got to thinking about the events that happened before this whole mess. He thought of that man, Toji Fushiguro, and how he had been strangely open about the situation of his son in his final moments, as if he expected him to do something about it. Satoru couldn’t recall his name now… or maybe he just didn’t want to.
“…maybe it was Meguru? Masumi? Something like that. Why would I even care?” He thought bitterly, turning over the name in his mind.
Megumi.
Right. Megumi.
What kind of name is that? Not that he cared.
Whatever Toji had meant by it, Satoru decided he didn’t care enough to find out, at least not tonight.
