Ilya Rozanov is a wonder, and the scoreboard reflects it. Poor Joe doesn’t even make it to the podium, but Ilya does. Shane watches him beaming, he relishes in the music and the applause, carefree and open and young.
There’s the rub. The kid is barely twenty-four, an infant compared to Shane’s thirty-two. Even if Shane might not look it, he feels it— shame, like he should be averting his gaze, like the heat in his belly when their eyes connect is entirely inappropriate and needs to stop.
