“What?" Hiccup turns sharply toward Jack, his face quickly turning red. Even so, he keeps his expression impassive and merely raises an eyebrow.
“You’re strange.”
Jack’s smile slowly appears, lighting up his face and narrowing his eyes into two crescents. Hiccup can’t look away.
“I like that.”
Hiccup takes a deep breath.
If there was one thing Hiccup had learned from his life as an outcast, it was that some things didn’t happen by accident
Being more or less hated by everyone wasn’t exactly a common skill. Hiccup had even considered turning it into a career. Maybe selling a course – “How to Be Hated by an Entire Village in Ten Easy Steps"
He’d certainly have a better chance of succeeding at that than killing a dragon.
So imagine his surprise when Jack, some random boy who literally barged into his life through the front door–
–doesn’t immediately hate him.
Nothing happens by accident.
Hiccup is about to find that out. And this time, not alone.
