Jude moves a piece of watermelon around the plate with the prongs of his fork. He won’t look at Erling. “Honestly? No, I don’t.”
Erling assesses him carefully as he sits back in his chair. He unfolds his arms across his chest. “Because you think I’m gonna leave you?”
“It’s what always happens, isn’t it?”
“Jude.” He reaches across the table, wraps a big hand around Jude’s wrist to halt his scraping of the good china. “Let me prove myself to you.”
