the life project

Summary:

the watchers are a group of aliens who consider it their duty to uplift other species. the lifers are some of the "lucky" humans who are about to have very mixed feelings for their captors. grian is one of the watchers, and he doesn't get why the lifers are so upset when all they're doing is making them better, but he'll cheer them right up with some mental conditioning.

Chapter Text

skizz was on a walk when he heard some sort of whirring noise, but he didn't pay it any mind. after all, it wasn't like he was in the middle of no where, he was just on the outskirts of the suburbs. it was probably nothing, this wasn't some kind of movie-

suddenly he was floating. not in the metaphorical sense. he was literally drifting off the ground. "HEY- WHAT-HUH-I-HELP-" skizz dropped his phone in the attempt to get back to the ground, as he was sucked up to wherever he was going. it was really bright up here, he couldn't see. he felt himself fall, and was caught by surprisingly strong, but spindly arms. "HEY- LET GO- LET GO OF ME- WHAT'S GOING-" skizz felt a prick of a needle in his neck, and suddenly he was drowsy. if he could see, he'd probably notice some kind of fuzziness around his vison or something. so instead, he just fell deep into the drug induced slumber.

pain. skizz woke up to pain, a sharp cutting sensation moving across his back. it was sharp and cold. he could see now, not that there was much to see with his face being pushed into something soft. he heard screaming, but was so surprised by the pain that it took a second for him to realise he was the one screaming. he tried to get up, but hands held him down, almost gently. "oh, he's awake, someone put him under again." skizz screamed. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?!?" the alien creature that he could now see knelt down. this one was shorter than the others, more human, but...there were no eyes in his head. "shh, you're lucky, we're making you better." skizz's eyes were watering, but he looked up to the almost kind smile of the creature. "my name's grian- wait. why are you crying?"

skizz sobbed, he couldn't get the words out. he eventually managed to tilt his head back to look at what they were doing, and what he saw made him want to vomit.

they'd cut his back open. he could see his own insides, and he could see them putting...things in there. new bones, flesh, skin, and it all made him sick to his core. he swore he saw his own heart beating. grian tilted skizz's head back, and despite his fighting and protests, a mask full of something that made his entire body go numb, and made his mind drift off was affixed to his face.

grian started stitching skizz's back up. he was so much prettier now with his new wings. they just needed the feathers.

skizz woke up with no shirt, being cradled by grian. he felt something soft on his back, and he looked. he had wings. he had wings. and he felt something on his head. he touched his forehead, and it felt magnified. like a thousand times. he could feel every cell on his finger. grian showed him a mirror. "see! isn't this so much better?" it was not. skizz had some sort of growth on his head. like a halo. grian beamed. "we modeled your new appearance after the earth creatures known as angels. you seem to be fond of them." skizz did like angel imagery. he didn't know how grian knew that. he didn't want to. "let me go home!" grian seemed confused. "you are home now skizz." skizz bit down onto grian's arm. grian screamed in pain.

grian covered skizz's mouth with some sort of muzzle. he couldn't talk or bite. he expected the worst, but instead grian smiled at him. "poor thing, confused and disoriented." grian flipped skizz onto his stomach and started to stroke his wings. it was actually...kinda nice. he felt almost...relaxed. grian smiled. "that's right, just let me do some preening, i'll get you a shirt at some point, don't worry, we just don't have one that fits your wings yet."

skizz tried to tell grian to just send him home, but the muzzle made it come out as nothing but muffled gibberish. grian continued to carefully preen, this time with a comb. skizz was furious, but there wasn't much he could do. so he just let grian take care of these new wings.
