Summary
Kevin kissing John's forehead. Murmuring, "my good boy, my special boy," light of the early morning spilling like honey around them. And they fight too, and they hate each other, and they kiss until their lips are bruised, and one day Kevin slips the ring of a pull-off bottle cap around John's finger, and it's a joke, but the kind harboring a truth at its core like a pearl in a clamshell.
After the end, two has-beens wash up together. A human, Homelander finds, is not such a terrible thing to be.

That made my heart pound and ache with so much love (it was deeply painful, kidding--), but I think all the situations and the way their relationship unfolds are EXTREMELY beautiful and soul-stirring. And that ending? MY GOD, I don't think I've ever read anything as incredibly poetic, authentic, and complete as that.
