Chapter Text

katie and ewron. two names that their friends currently dreaded to hear from both of them. they had a complicated relationship, often resulting in various breakups. both of them were pretty mutually toxic to each other, one loving power and the backlash his lover gave him, and the other addicted to the power she held.

it was… not the best situation. katie’s friends were tired of her constant complaining, wishing she would find someone better. someone who actually did care about her.

they knew she loved attention, that she craved it. after all, she didn’t grow up in a great environment. yelling, lying, and love bombing were all things that were common.

you broke a dish? you would be yelled at until your vision was blurry from crying. then, a sweet hush and an apology. it was horrible.

ewron? his friends knew the type of man he was. how often he lied, cheated to get his way, but always had people wrapped around his fingers. his promises of riches, the way ewron would beg and beg after he fucked up.

and together? they were horrible. ewron couldn’t get enough of katie, of how much she needed him, the love he gave her was addicting like a drug. the way katie forgave him every time, letting him cling onto her like a lost puppy, it was intoxicating.

but eventually, things got boring.

katie got better, healthier, and smarter.

she had a long, long talk with her friends. each person giving her advice while she was tied up. ducktape over her mouth and her hands behind her back. it was the only way to get her to shut up. and it was needed.

he hurts you. he makes you different. you’re hostile, katie. we know you, we know you can be better, we know you can change.

and so, they set up a plan. katie, who did not know, was just excited to get a break and go clubbing with a bigger group. the entire club was even rented out, and she was super excited. katie loved events, adored the way people flocked to her, how easy it was to garner attention.

did she know who was going there? no, not really. just some people don and graf knew, tina as well. and maybe a couple of her other friends… fuck. katie knew a lot of people who knew each other. would he be there?

and low and behold, he was. mayhaps, her current partner, she hadn’t gotten to breaking up with him yet. it was complicated, okay? she JUST got the self respect to. part of her wanted to yell at her friends, asking why they didn’t warn her about this. katie knew though, that if they did, she would keep running, keep being unable to face her fears, to push herself. she sighed, sucking it up. at least she looked good.

she made an effort to spend time with her friends; listening to their stories, drinking with them, and overall just ignoring the elephant in the room. katie wasn’t very responsible about drinking though. she commonly got drunk multiple times, often having to be driven home or staying at a friends house.

“katie, you okay?” tina said, tapping on her finger. her voice had a tune of concern in it. katie always loved the way tina was, how caring she was with her.

katie smiled big and wide, and let out a gross burp. “whoops! excuse me,” she spoke, words being a lot more harder to say than usual, “yeah of course! why, what’s up?”

“you’ve just been um, a bit more quiet than you usually are.” she said, giggling just a bit at the girl’s antics.

katie felt her hair stand up, goosebumps at the thought of her friends seeing behind her perfect, deliberate mask that she put on. she knew she had to act better, especially after what she had been through.

“well-“

“KAATTIEEE!” a loud booming voice shook her, taking down her composure immediately. only one boy would ever call her name that loud.

her face dropped, her usual demeanor getting torn down in an instant. she had been avoiding him, avoiding the conflict, the responsibility. how could she face him? especially now that she was drunk.

she slowly turned around, plastering the fakest smile she could form at the moment. katie’s eyes scoured the people behind him, trying to see if there was any way she could escape and save herself. she locked eyes with a certain pale skinned scientist.

he blinked, and then immediately looked behind him to see if she was actually looking at him. he looked puzzled when his gaze had returned.

“katie! you haven’t been responding to my message!” ewron say, his voice whiny as he got closer to katie. katie gulped, swallowing down her fears. she needed to be confident, to not let him worm his way into her life again.

“ewron, it’s over between us.” she blurted out, not very confident with her words. a few people around them somewhat gasped and started whispering. she felt sick, like her skin wasn’t her own.

ewron’s expression changed, and he stopped moving. his eyes gazed over to tina, who promptly squeaked and looked away. he let out a sigh, “katie, katie, please. we can talk about this later, yeah?” he cooed, reaching his hand out for her. he opened his mouth again, but katie slapped his hand away. stunning him.

“i have someone new.”

another gasp from the crowd. god, she was a fucking idiot. she did not have anyone else, but she knew that this was a somewhat sure way to get out of this relationship. she knew who she was gonna use as her fake boyfriend.

ewron looked pissed, but also distraught. katie was pleased she had finally shocked him, seeing as it was very difficult. he always seemed to have tabs on her. maybe she was just an open book.

“what?” he glanced around, looking for anyone who had any amount of emotion on their voice. but he wasn’t going to find them like that. “who even?”

katie put on a smirk, reminding herself she had to be confident. there was no room for being anxious.

“multi.”

“what?”

multiple people looked around, looking for the man mentioned. katie had been keeping an idea on where he was this whole time. she smiled, put her hand on her hip and walked over to him. he looked horrified, but also flustered. katie couldn’t tell if it was because he thought she was really awesome or the idea that he was drunk.

“you’re joking.” ewron said, scoffing at her. it pissed her off.

katie wrapped her hand around multi’s waist, pulling him closer to her. “why would i be joking?”

“no, you’re not together.” he turned his attention to multi.

multi and him held a gaze for what felt like minutes but was merely seconds.

Mówisz poważnie?” ewron growled, “moja dziewczyna?

multi cleared his throat, glancing at katie. she looked back at him, pleading that he would go along with it. she didn’t know him very well, but they were at least friends in her eyes.

ewron, tak będzie najlepiej.” multi said, calmly, putting himself closer to katie. this enraged ewron.

“no, no no.” he said, laughing. “Udowodnij mi to.

multi bit his lip, “poważnie?” he sounded skeptical. katie was quite annoyed by the back and forth of the two, anticipation making her shake in impatience.

tak.

ewron’s voice is firm, unchanging. multi knew the type of man that ewron was, really. he’s hard to convince, always tied into everyone’s business. however, multi kept him out of his circle as much as possible. it worked, he hoped, because in this exact moment he could tell how nervous he was.

now for convincing ewron? multi could only think of one thing. and god, he wasn’t sure. he was fond of katie, he hated to admit. she was always so bright. he distanced himself from her after the fifth breakup with ewron. he knew he had feelings for her, ones he couldn’t pursue. he had gotten over her a while ago.

he wasn’t so sure he had now. he looked up at katie, her lips. fuck, maybe it was the alcohol in his system, the months, years, of yearning for something he couldn’t have. the perfect moment to take what was his.

katie was shocked by the sudden clashing of lips. she suddenly felt very sheepish. but she knew she had started this, she had to continue it. she kissed him back, biting on his lip. she was a bit drunk, maybe a lot drunk, and she wanted more.

it was cut short as both of them pulled apart to a loud yell from ewron. neither of them could make out what he said, but he walked up to multi and slapped him, cursing him out in polish words katie could not understand. just a few kurwa’s here and there.

multi didn’t care tho. he just laughed. he grabbed katie’s hand, shoving ewron out of the way, and walking out of the club.

“multi, i’m…” katie started as he walked her to his car. he didn’t say anything, didn’t stop, just gripped her hand tighter. “multi. i’m sorry for, that, i can give you my address and you can just drop me off at my apartment.”

he stopped, letting out a sigh. katie’s chest tightened.

“katie, we can errr. talk about it later, okay?” he said, not looking back at her. he let go of her hand, and katie yearned for that contact again. she kept quiet though, allowing multi the silence he wished for. she didn’t even realize they were at his car.

she shuffled nervously as he opened the passenger door. katie crawled into the car, avoiding eyes with multi. he started the car, the deafening silence of the engine running was silenced by an artist that katie didn’t recognize.

“err, i’m just going to my house, alright?” he said, taking a glance at katie. she didn’t return it, or notice it really. she just nodded.
