   Summary

   "You," Simon said, his voice flat, "are the most annoying extraction target I have ever handled."
   "I think... I think I just ran a mile in two minutes," Grace choked out, dry-heaving into the gutter.

   Ryland Grace didn't want chrome, he didn't want a street bounty, and he definitely didn't want a hyper-oxygenated synthetic blood agent rewriting his cellular biology at three hundred percent capacity.
   First, he was kidnapped by Maelstrom gangers who tried to auction his biochemistry expertise on the black market. Then, a heavily-chromed mercenary named Simon smashed through the door to retrieve him—only for a stray bullet to shatter an experimental vial of Metaheme directly into Grace's open wound.
   Now, Simon’s fifty-thousand-eddie extraction contract is burned, Grace can run nearly 40mph down a wet Watson sidewalk, and BioTechnica has put a half-million eddie hit on his bone marrow.
   With seventy-two hours before the volatile Metaheme explodes his heart, Grace and a local ripperdoc figure out how to synthesize a stabilizing agent from scratch. All they need is a lab, a few stolen industrial precursors, and a terrifying merc who refuses to let a civilian become corporate scrap.
