Summary
Henry Hollander is exactly six years older than his younger brother Shane - they were born on the same day - and he considers those six years the best of his life. Despite the two having many similarities (not that either would ever admit it), they never really clicked. When Shane was twelve, Henry moved out of home in Ottawa for Vancouver, and thereafter only saw the family on holidays and birthdays. After several unsuccessful business ideas and failed books, he works as the manager of a furniture store to make ends meet, steadfastly refusing money from Shane or the rest of his family.
After Shane’s 29th birthday, when he offhandedly mentions that it is his brother Henry’s 35th as well - Ilya hadn’t even known, he’d thought Shane was an only child - Ilya, driven by a hope to reconcile the two brothers, pays Henry a visit the next time he’s in Vancouver. He hopes to discover why the two fell out - and how, maybe, they could reconcile.
