   Summary

   Marah Brandlin was never meant to be born. Her parents never told her that, well, not to her face, but she knew that's what they thought.

   She noticed the way they acted when she entered the room; the way her mum's jaw tightened, the way her dad would wrinkle his nose, the way both would tense and look away. These weren't things any 8-year-old should notice. But she did, and she knew why they looked so disgusted. She was a monster.
