“Who?”

Summary:

Wifies needs to pay a quick visit to the server he lost seventy-five dollars to for some materials.

Now that he knows that The Leviathan truly exist, he needs to continue his research even further.

But convincing the server to believe in Levi was never the problem.

OR

Wifies was alone all along.

Notes:

Wifies just dropped new doomed yaoi? Heck yeah.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Dear Hummer,

I hope this email finds you well.

I don’t know why Levi let me in and not you. I don’t know why he stopped my recording. Or why all my screenshots are blank. Like I was never really there.

I don’t know what Levi is.
Or what he wants.

But I can promise you this. I won’t stop, until I figure it out.

For you, and for me.

Yours,
Wifies”

This, this was Wifies’ last email to Hummer after he drowned. His last message to his new companion, who he never got to say a proper goodbye. He knew the email was just supposed to be a promise to find a way to figure everything out, but deep inside he also seeked the validation of Hummer being okay.

He never got any response, which he wasn’t expecting something any soon judging the fact that he got his first message by Hummer after several days. But something in his chest constantly felt hollow, the vagueness of whether Hummer would reach out again was weirdly sickening. It almost felt like Hummer carved a hole in his chest right before he left.

Wifies felt like he failed him after all that had happened. Both of them believed in The Leviathan, that’s what he presumed, but the difference between them was the core of his belief coming from Hummer who dedicated himself to find The Leviathan. Hummer didn’t need anyone to convince him to believe in Levi, he already knew that he was real, he felt him. But Levi decided to only let Wifies in instead of him.

Wifies had wondered before if the only one who he truly believed from the beginning was in fact Hummer instead of the concept of Levi. He tried to grasp it, he really did but he couldn’t bypass that Hummer was the one who he believed in, not the mysterious deep sea creature who allegedly exists according to hundreds of users across the internet.

And now here he was. The Leviathan was indeed real. He let him in, after everything he had done to refuse him. But why not Hummer? Why not the one with genuine belief and dedication searching for him for nearly half a year? He didn’t understand. He didn’t need to. Levi is real, and Hummer was right. If Wifies had any other way to reach out to him other than waiting for his emails he would’ve been glad for sure. He would’ve been glad to any sign showing that Hummer was alright.

But this is just the beginning, the thing he saw, was just a glimpse of the actual entity. At least he presumed so, he didn’t have any big idea on how strong the entity is or any of his capabilities. But based on his past experiences about him, he knew better than to underestimate Levi. He didn’t even know if he could be a threat to them or not.

That’s where the important part comes in. He has to collect more data, more information, any small detail from a user that had something to do with the entity. He wants to figure it out, he needs to figure it out. For Hummer.

Everything will be a lot more clear once he has enough resources to begin his research, and Wifies has an idea on where to start.

He decides to log onto the server he did once with Hummer to politely borrow some resources, the one where he had to bargain with someone who was stubborn as hell, the one where he lost seventy-five dollars alongside his dignity. It’s not the first thing he’d favor to do once he’s in need for items, but time doesn’t do any favors either. If he needs to get to the bottom of this, he needs to be quick.

At least he hopes that it’ll be a quick job as he spawns, walk in, grab the stuff, and walk out. No need to make it complicated.

Right?

Wrong.

“Dude, what the hell? Are you seriously stealing from me again?”

Wifies recognizes the familiar deep monotone voice behind him as he’s reaching out to grab a lectern from the chest. He takes a deep breath before he turns around and confronts the guy who drained half of his pockets.

Wifies began to ramble, “Man, look. I know you don’t like me and I know I said this before but this time, I really, really need this stuff. This is probably stupid but hear me out on this. The Leviathan is real and I need to help Hummer. Please consider this before you try to kill me. I know this i-“

“Bro-“ Parameterization tries to cut him off.

Wifies cuts him off instead, “Now look I don’t have your stuff from before but I swear this time I’ll bring them back, I don’t know when but please it’s all for Hummer-“

Parameterization takes a deep sigh, “Man-“

Wifies makes several gestures with his hands as if he’s trying to make a point, “I’m talking about The Leviathan here, reconsider before trying to do anything-“

“Wifies!”

“What?!”

“Who the hell is Hummer?!”

He stops, blinks gazily for a while before he responds, “…W-what? Dude, you know him. You know…the guy I came here with…? He had a TV head and-“

Parameterization’s brows furrow, “Uh, you came here alone before? You’re tripping bro, go get some sleep or something. I don’t care what you do with my stuff just take ‘em. You’re crazy…”, he shakes his head disapprovingly.

Wifies stutters for a brief moment with a confused look, “Wh…what. No. No! Don’t you remember him? His name tag was Hummer5718- and- he had old fashioned clothing! He was right there with me!”, he unintentionally searches around the room as if he’s searching for Hummer.

A few other people from before start filling up the room, gathering around Parameterization and asking him questions with concerned looks while glaring at Wifies after his face was recognized as someone they didn’t favor being in the server with.

Wifies points at them, “You guys remember, right?! Hummers, he was right beside me all along!”, he feels his chest getting heavier as he chokes on his breaths.

The crowd gets confused. A discussing mutter happens among them while a few of them shake their heads as if they’re apologizing. Their voices overlap with each other but Wifies manages to make out a single word from the mess.

“Who?”
