Summary:

Eurydice is hungover and can’t wash her hair.

Good thing she has a husband!!

Notes:

Hellooooo! This is something I briefly mentioned in a previous fic but I love the concept of Orpheus learning how to do Eurydice’s hair to help her out when he can, I find doing someone’s hair to be a very like intimate thing if that makes sense so this is supposed to be the first time he learned!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Orpheus schlepped himself, groggily but quickly to the bathroom first thing in the morning to take his first of two showers of the day. When his hand reached the doorknob to push it open he’s thwarted by a screech.

“I’m in here!” He hears a familiar voice yell from inside.

“Oh. Sorry. It’s my morning shower time. Do you mind if I come in?” He asks with a yawn.

“Mhm.”

The door creaks open and he’s faced with Eurydice, leaning on the bathroom sink, her hair half in a ponytail half out with a bunch of products scattered across the small space.

“Hey are you okay?” Orpheus questions suddenly needing to catch her as she’s slipping off of the sink and onto the floor.

They’re now both on the floor, Orpheus’ arms draped around his wife, harboring an extremely concerned look on his face. She nuzzles her face into his chest.

“Yeah I’m okay I- today’s wash day and I’m super hungover.” In response to this Orpheus sighs and sucks his teeth.

“I told you not to drink so much last night.” He cups her very warm droopy face in his hands firmly.

“I know! Not the time babe.” She hisses out.

“You’re right. I’m sorry.” He lays her head back onto his chest and rubs her back at a slow steady pace.

“Why don’t I wash your hair for you. I can brush it out and twist it so you can do it tomorrow when you’re feeling a little better?” Orpheus propositions, a bit of hesitation present in his tone of voice.

“Really? I know it’s your morning shower time.” She says, her voice lighting up in relief.

“I can skip my morning shower for you. You’re more important than my routine.” If you told 9 year old Orpheus that one day he’d care about something more than his strict daily routines he would have laughed in your face.

Orpheus sits himself cross legged on the cold tile floor right next to the bathtub where his wife is currently laying, enclosed in the warm bath water with peppermint scented soap bubbles (for the hangover nausea.

Eurydice head lays on the edge of the bathtub watching her husband scan over the products she gave him for her wash day. She splashes him with a little bit of water to garner his attention. His head immediately shoots up but then tilts to the side in feigned annoyance when he sees her leaning in puckered up, a silent request for a kiss.

He rolls his eyes and places a quick kiss on her lips.

“So, wet your hair first and then shampoo, and brush the hair in sections with the shampoo in your hair.”

“Mhm.”

“And repeat that twice..”

“Mhm.”

“Then conditioner and leave that for like 15 minutes while you wash the rest of your body.”

“Uh huh.”

“Then wash it out?”

“Perfect.”

Orpheus takes a deep breath in and starts washing her hair. His hands take their time on each step, making sure to do periodic check-ins with Eurydice to make sure he's doing it properly.

“Am I brushing it too rough?”

“A little- just a tad slower should be fine.”

Immediately at her words he slows his brushing pace, holding the underside of the section of hair with one hand and the brush with other holding it steady.

While he was brushing the last section he began to analyze her locks.

“You have really beautiful hair, baby. Like you genuinely have the most gorgeous head of hair I’ve ever seen.” Orpheus whispers softly before kissing her forehead.

“Mm I know. Thank you.”

“Okay and I’m done. Can you stand?”

Eurydice takes a second to ponder the question and then slowly moves her head to look back at Orpheus, who’s head is leaning on the bathtub ledge.

“I’m not sure, I’m really dizzy and like-“

Her husband dosent even let her finish the sentence before he grabs both of her hands and lifts her up onto her feet.

“Orpheus what the hell are you doing?” She says mid laugh and simultaneously in the middle of him wrapping the towel around her and swiftly lifting her on her feet.

“You said you might not be able to walk. So I’m gonna carry you.”

Eurydice is sprawled out on their slightly hard matress, (the covers pulled all the way down as her hangover was keeping her plenty hot) her hair laying on a towel over the pillows, air drying. Orpheus was the gods know where. Hes somewhere in the house she thought.

The second her thoughts wandered to him, the man walks through the door with pizza, ibuprofen, and a bunch of hair products.

“Orpheus? What’s all of this?” Eurydice asks groggily pulling herself up to lean on their headboard.

“I got you some food because you haven’t eaten anything today, ibuprofen for your headache, and I’m gonna do your hair while you eat. Detangle it and blow dry it at least, but I can do a style for you too if you want.” The poet responds, excited to do this for her.

“Yeah- that actually sounds really good.”

“Good! Okay eat your pizza so you can take the medicine.”
