Chapter Text
The barrier was the least of Doctor Legundo’s problems. What was most concerning was who they were stuck in here with.
Cleo, Pearl and him had walked in on them desecrating a beacon in the ruins of some kind of manor and just talking. Scott yelled at him to wait but they were booking it out of there before he could do anything.
Elle’s suspicions were correct, there were vampires in their midst.
Elle and Pyro had gone out earlier in search of books. Legs was worried about them meeting either Scott or Owen but he couldn't stop them from leaving.
There was a commotion outside of his clinic, something about a book. He could hear Elle’s frantic screeching and so he knew they were back. And if it truly was about a book then they could fix this vampiric problem once and for all.
He stepped outside and a book was immediately shoved at him to take a look at it.
It said, Gaze to the past and reveal the champions, Pan, Morpheus and Nyx
“Well?! What do you think?” Elle was practically vibrating with the chance to wipe out these monsters.
“I propose we use it now and get these so-called ‘champions' to wipe them out.” Martyn called.
“Maybe we wait a bit before using it. We don't know what will happen. And as much as I would love to get home even quicker I need to get home alive.” Apo said much more calmly.
“How about we build a place to put these ‘champions’ until we know they won't hurt us.”
“Good thinking Pyro. That is what we should do.” Legs replied.
“But what if these champions don't want to help us at all. They might get mad at us for putting them in a cage.” Pearl expressed her concerns but it wasn't enough to sway the crowd.
Drift did start whispering to Shelby, perhaps in question of the newly forming plan.
“Yeah Pearl’s right!” Shelby said but the townsfolk looked at her like she said she supported the vampires. How she didn't notice their glares was a mystery, that girl could be so very blind sometimes.
“Ye remember that saying, ‘for the greater good’. Well tha applies here. We cant let the being of darkness win over don't cha know.” Ren said firmly.
While Pearl, Drift and Shelby all had skeptical expressions the man was right. They should execute this plan but first they needed the materials and effort to build a holding space.
“Well if that's what we need then we probably need more materials. Doc I know we are a bit wary of this plan but a good time away from Oakhurst would help us calm down. Can me, Shelby and Drift go and chop down some trees?” Pearl asked innocently and with puppy dog eyes.
“Yeah can we?!” Shelby and Drift said in unison.
“Ok but if you see the vampires then run right back to town, got it?” Legs gave in.
They started to walk out of Oakhurst and into the forest to get some wood.

“Ok can we agree that this plan is stupid.” Pearl said loudly when they were deep enough in the bushland.
Shelby had to agree, and maybe put in her two cents.
“I was thinking we should go talk to the vampires. They haven't actually hurt us yet and maybe they know more about this.”
“I mean, logically that makes perfect sense. Good idea Shelby.” Drift said while lost in thought.
Shelby smiled warmly at that. Good to know even the most dreary of places can’t bring such a spirit like Shelby’s down.

They were at the bridge now and Drift was just mustering up the courage to cross.
“RACE YA THERE!” Pearl yelled and started to parkour over the bridge, missing any gaps.
Shlby giggled and followed suit, apparently determined not to be last.
Drift was last but was laughing all the way.
She got as far as a quarter way in before something went terribly wrong.
Drift heard a shocked scream from Pearl, followed by rocks breaking free and through a gap right in front of her, Drift could see as she plummeted from the bridge.
Or she would have, if not for a blurred figure lunging at her and crashing into a little standing area on the ruin’s side of the bridge.
On closer inspection, the figure was Owen, the lumberjack who was accused of being a vampire.
