Chapter 1: where we were way back when

Chapter Text

A disruption in the timeline was not too uncommon. Chronos would usually survey the issue and patch it if it causes too many problems. It meant a small headache for Owen but she could handle it.

This one though, seemed to prophecise all the champions' re-deaths. He must tell someone.

Someone was walking down their bridge. Their memory told them it was Scott.

She rushed over and started gushing to him about how they would all die.

“Woah, woah, woah, slow down. And yeah, I know we are all going to die. It's kinda the whole point of us being here.”
“No, no you don't understand.” Owen was basically shaking Scott at this point.

“The barrier will collapse very shortly. We will only have a few moments to leave before Zeus strikes us all down. He doesn't want us to leave! Their entertainment will not be disturbed by this!”

Scott quietened down. “Ok. I need to go tell my friends. How much time do we have left?”

Owen considered this for a moment.

“Not enough! Just go, run PLEASE!”

“Ok. Be safe please.”

Scott jumped off the side of the bridge and a burst of wind suggested he used his abilities to launch him towards the barrier.

Owen started to run for the barrier as well. No point in helping the others, he foresaw all their deaths. What was unclear was her own future.

So he ran for that.

She ran for himself.

For what he would make it be.

Scott was told to run so he did. When he practically slammed into the barrier he could feel the winds try to drag him back in. so he fought it.

Scott Antonis Mattheos Pagona Pavlos the 3rd would not die like this. Not again.

The barrier trembled.

A final sharp whip of wind.

A crack in the invisible wall keeping them here.

And he was out.

It was surprisingly cold out here.

Scott ran until his legs could no longer carry him. He could only pray Owen made it out too.

When he collapsed, shivering from the cold and shaking from exhaustion he saw a figure.

A purple robe, many eyed, many winged creature stood above him. It was massive and when it held out it’s hand Scott flinched.

He hesitated at the hand until he heard the deafening boom of thunder in the distance. Lightning flashed in several places and spots danced in his vision from it.

He knew they were now truly dead. He didn't need to hear their screams as they died or see their cold, lifeless body to know that.

That would happen to him, wouldn't it? Deep down he knew that.

He accepted the hand from the entity in front of him and was whisked away.

And just like that, Scott was gone from the god’s watching eyes and the champions were properly dead.

For now…

Chronos stood in front of Owen as he trembled, waiting for her fate.

“I honestly didn't think your mortal mind would last so long. I think you deserve a reward.”
Owen didn't respond.

“I will send you down back to Earth, with half your blindness restored. From there do as you  please. When you die again I will have you here as my assistant. How does this sound?”

Owen was speechless. The Chronos, offering her a place at his side. And another chance at life!

“Deal,” he said. And was away, away, away to the mortal plane.

This time as a half blind lumberjack with an incurable disease.

With all memories from his past fully intact and the whole timeline to explore at his will.
