Santa wants very badly to wipe that look off his face.
“A few hours,” Perth says.
"Attend the dinner. Come to whatever painfully event has been arranged for tonight. Stop climbing walls for a few hours.”
Santa scoffs.
“And then you can go back West with whichever unfortunate sister agrees to marry you, and I can go back to not caring what you think.”
Something unreadable flickers across Perth's face.
Then it's gone.
“Deal.”
Santa walks past him, deliberately creating as much distance from Perth.
Perth doesn't budge. Easily catching up and walks at his side.
He can survive a few hours.
He’s not scared.
And definitely was not running away.
Perth is here to choose a princess.
Santa isn't a princess.
And whatever friendship once existed between them clearly died years ago somewhere between Perth's unanswered letters and the unbearable man currently keeping up with his pace towards the palace.
So really, Santa has absolutely nothing to worry about.
He should have kept climbing.
