Chapter Text
Kyle had been so proud of how he looked. Today for the first day of high school, he dressed in a loose blue, white, and yellow wife-beater tank shaped jersey with the number 06 on it, and some black basketball shorts. He added in his best nike jordans, the exterior designed with a nice blue color. His mothers voice rang out from downstairs as he tossed on his favorite gold chain. “Coming!!” He called back, rushing to the bathroom to brush his teeth and put some gel to slick back his orange coiled hair.
By the time he got downstairs, he had about 5 minutes to get his backpack and breakfast. He quickly downed his orange juice and pancake, and as he grabbed his back pack he went to grab another pancake before running out the door to the car. “Ike!! C’mon!!”
Sheila came out brushing Ike’s hair while he buttoned his jeans. Ike was 7, starting 3rd grade. He hopped into the back while Kyle sat in the front. “Boobe, are you sure you wanna eat that?”
“What?” Kyle asked as his mom started the car.
“I had already given you two pancakes, is a third really the route you wanna go? I struggle with my weight a lot now that I’m older, I don’t want you to go through the same thing!” Sheila explained, pulling out of the driveway and starting down the road. “You were such a fit young boy, I think you should start exercising a bit more.”
Kyle held the half eaten pancake in front of him, “I’m just hungry–”
“It’s alright sweetie, we can talk about it more later okay?” Sheila said. Her assuring words didn’t stop him from giving the pancake to Ike.
Kyle walked into South Park High with a smile on his face. He didn’t let Sheila's comment get to him! He liked how he looked, and he wasn’t gonna let anyone tell him otherwise!!
“Damn porky, you tryna get as fat as Cartman?” Clyde’s annoying voice cut through Kyle’s positive affirmations as he sat down. Kyle had to pause for a second before snapping back.
“Shut the fuck up man, at least I don’t run across the football field like I’ve got a stick up my ass”
A few chuckles escaped from their friend group, and Clyde's face turned pink. “S-seriously kyle, I dunno if you can do basketball l-like that?” Butters spoke up, his tone a bit sheepish
“What–?”
“Y’know, basketball players aren't exactly fat?” Cartman interrupted, joining in to mock Kyle.
“Like you’re one to talk, fatass.” Kyle rolled his eyes. “I’ve played basketball all my life I’ll be fine.”
Cartman could tell he was starting to get to Kyle so he continued, “Don’t be ashamed, right Butters?”
“Uh yeah” Butters smiled, being encouraged by Eric's smug smile.
The bell rang, “Whatever, I gotta go to math”
“Think you’re gonna get all A’s?” Stan asked, stepping in to de-escalate the situation.
Kyle answered, grateful for the interruption, “Hopefully”
“In lunch too?” Tolkien laughed and some joined.
Butters was just happy to be included and added, “y-yeah! Get an A in counting calories instead, right fellas?”
“Shut the fuck up before a smash your teeth in ya cheap ass bitch” Kyle scoffed–using what he learned from Sheilas stories of being in Jersey to respond.
Butters immediately apologized, “Gee, sorry Kyle”
Everyone finally dispersed to their classes.
In Algebra, Kyle found a seat around the middle of the class. When he sat down, he felt his stomach bunch up and immediately got self conscious… ‘Fuck them.’ Kyle decided as he took out a pencil for class.
At lunch, Kyle got his tray but instead of eating he picked at his food. He couldn’t stop thinking of the comments earlier. ‘Since you’re so good at math, why don’t you count your calories?’ ‘plus for plus size’ ‘keep those love handles plump.’
Their comments spiraled in his mind until he heard the bell ring. Someone called out to him but he didn’t answer as he threw his trash–or rather, food away.
School passed in a blur of “welcome to school!” and Introduction worksheets. When he got home, his mom had to head back to work. ‘Are you sure you’re gonna eat that?’ She had said earlier. He went to the pantry and pulled out a snack. That snack turned into another, and another…
He slumped himself up the stairs, his stomach now bulging out a bit.. He went to his room and grabbed a notebook. “I really should go on a diet.” He decided to himself as he started writing down plans for the next few weeks.
