Chapter Text
Harley keeps his bedroom window unlocked and open most of the time, just in case Peter decides to swing by. Tonight is one of the nights that Peter elects to drop in.
It's been a long night of crime fighting — with minimal bodily harm — and Peter still has an hour or so before he needs to be home. He just has to make it back before May, who likes to pop her head into Peter's room after returning from work.
Peter has always found that swinging through the city is both an exhilarating and a calming activity, but after patrolling for four hours, all he wants to do is relax with is boyfriend.
Unfortunately, they don't get to see each other very often (despite going to the same school) because Harley has yet to come out. Peter understands and doesn't blame him at all.
It's not that Harley is scared about coming out to the other kids at school. He really couldn't give two shits about what they think. He even told Aunt May and his parents about him and Peter… but he's worried about Tony finding out.
So between Tony not knowing that Harley has a boyfriend, and Tony not knowing Spider-Man's real identity, they don't get much time to themselves.
Harley is tinkering at his desk when Peter climbs through the nearby window. Peter immediately pulls his mask off and takes three long strides towards Harley as Harley spins around and stands to meet him. Peter embraces him with a gentle brush of the lips.
It's the same song and dance every time Peter stops by after patrol: soft kisses and gentle touches while Harley checks Peter over for any injuries. Once satisfied that Peter is okay, they pull apart and settle down around Harley's desk. "So, how was patrol?"
"Uneventful," Peter pouts.
Harley turns towards the desktop to pull up the suit's schematics.
"You would be disappointed by that," Harley sighs.
They keep quiet light banter between them as they spend most of the hour hunched over the desk, working on upgrades for both of Peter's suits. Peter has two that he and Harley built together, the second one is a backup in case the first gets damaged.
Unfortunately, time tends to pass way too fast when they're together. And before they know it, it's ten minutes past when peter was supposed to leave. In his rush to get back home, he forgets to grab his spare suit. It ends up on the floor, near the closet, forgotten about as he quickly collects his things and heads back out the window.
This wouldn't have been an issue if Harley had shut his bedroom door when he left for school in the morning.
Of course, this is not the case. And when Tony comes up from the lab to drag himself to bed for a 'quick power-nap', he stumbles his way past Harley's room and pauses because he notices that his window is open.
Tony walks into the room to close said window, not even making it to the window before he stops. There's something crumpled near the closet that is distinctly red and blue.
Tony doesn't know exactly what compels him to pick up the fabric but he does. He audibly gasps as he realizes what it is. He drops the fabric before swiftly turning on his heals.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y." Tony calls out to the AI with mild distress , "Open a new file!"
He swiftly strides out of the room, heading back down to the lab; his nap completely forgotten.
