Dead By Dark

Summary:

"I've always said that I wasn't afraid of death. Until I stood face to face with it and it showed me everything I hadn't gotten around to achieving, every missed moment and opportunity, I want to try everything, do everything. I now understand how one can crave immortality, but not even the most powerful and influential can outrun death."

When death finds you, let it find you alive.

"Push me and I will resist"

Horror understands women more than any other genre.

Chapter Text

Vienna Grave was one of the first students to hop on the train as the cold England air hit her face, making her cling onto her sweater for warmth. As she walked down the aisle, finding an empty cabin to sit down in. More people started boarding the train and Vienna checked the time, 10:48AM. The train was to leave in 12 minutes, she had plenty of time so she grabbed out the snacks her father had packed for her, a massive bagel with cream cheese and honey. Vienna took a bite and wiped her mouth for any crumbs, when all of a sudden she heard a massive bang, she poked her head out of the cabin and saw a red haired boy had dropped some potion, which had caused a minor explosion and Vienna saw him sheepishly grin at the girl's maddened expression. The boy's name was Otis Weasley, Vienna and spoken to him before and from what she could gather he was a smart wizard but obviously quite clumsy. Otis's girlfriend, Maggie Furel helped him pick up his things and led him away from the laughter of their peers. Otis and Maggie were both Gifindoors which is why Vienna probably hadn't spoken to them much, as Vienna was a Slytherin and most Grifindoors made an effort to avoid them entirely, or tease them.

The train soon began to move, making its 9 hour trip to Hogsmeade. An hour into the train ride Vienna took out a book she's been reading, although it was a muggle book, something that was frowned upon by most of her peers, Vienna enjoyed it very much, as she removed the bookmark and began reading quietly.

A few more hours passed and Vienna had drifted off slowly with her book still lazily in her hands. When she awoke someone was knocking and then they opened the door slowly. Her best friend Ketsiya Greengrass sat opposite her, already in her Slytherin robes which reminded Vienna that it was probably best for her to start doing the same. Ketsiya began speaking as Vienna started throwing her uniform on. “Hey Vienna, How have you been? I'm terribly sorry I wasn't here before me and Beau were sitting together and it completely slipped my mind.” She said calmly, rubbing her temples. Ketsiya's boyfriend Beau Tonks didn't seem to dislike Vienna in any way, except for the fact he clearly didn't think Vienna benefited his girlfriend in many ways. “Hey Ketsiya, I'm alright, I don't expect you to be glued to me 24/7. How are you?” Vienna said with a small laugh. Ketsiya let out a small sigh.”Oh good, good, im good lovely.” “The train is to be arriving soon.” Vienna said while checking the time on her small, old wrist watch. “Yes we should start grabbing our bags, I can already see Hogsmeade station up ahead.” Ketsiya said while looking out the window to her right, pointing as the station emerged behind the dark fog.

A couple minutes later the train came to a stop and Vienna walked straight out, but as soon as she left the cabin she walked into a hard object in her way. “The fuck?” Vienna said as she looked up when she realized it was her classmate, Tom Riddle. “What an unusual way to apologise.” he said with enough disdain and sarcasm to fuel the bloody train. “Um excuse you” Vienna said with a scowl. He simply ignored her with his jaw clenched and began walking away. Vienna decided to let it go and just remained walking off the train with her friend Ketsiya by her side, talking about what the other did over the holidays.
