Chapter Text
Liam Lawson’s hate for the visa cash app racing bull’s admin was well known. All they did was prank him and Arvid or call him a good boy. Though he had to admit, their TikTok page and some of the things they made the two teammates do was pretty funny. Like that time, they pranked him by showing up asking for signatures in the Melbourne walk or when they let them photocopy their own faces. Just every time they’ve ragebaited him honestly, he does enjoy it deep down.
Right now, they were explaining their next prank to a very visibly shocked Liam and Arvid.
“You want us to…date?”
Arvid asked with a confused expression on his face. The poor boy had only had 4 months in f1 and they were really putting him through the wringer.
“Only as a joke?” the admin responded.
“C’mon guys it will be a fun prank for the fans! For me, please? I won’t call you a good boy anymore I promise.”
They were practically begging the boys to agree. Liam looked over at Arvid, silently checking whether he was okay with it before sighing and dragging a hand over his face.
“You really want us to do it?”
Liam said with a resigned tone. He knew admin would just keep begging them if they didn’t say yes.
“Please?”
At this point admin was doing their best impression of a dog who’d just had their favourite toy taken from them. It was hard to say no.
“I’m okay with it.”
Those words leaving Arvid’s mouth made Liam’s head whip towards him.
“You...re-really…w-what?” Liam stuttered out.
Nice job Liam, you sound really smart. He silently reprimanded himself.
“I’m serious, if it’s just a prank what’s the harm?”
Oh Arvid, very naïve. And somehow Liam was folding quickly to the brown curly haired boy.
“Okay sure. Fine. What’s your plan admin”
It took admin ten minutes to relay their plan to the drivers. They were going to record some TikTok’s like normal and act closer. Like they were secretly together. Then let the internet do the rest of the work. Easy right? So why was Liam nervous? It was just Arvid; they’d done this before. They were friends. Well, as close to friends two teammates who were pretending to date could be.
Admin filmed them doing all kinds of things. From sitting and talking to Liam playing guitar and him and Arvid talking. It started off a little weird but Liam was starting to melt into the role of being the ‘caring older boyfriend’ to the young brit. He was pretty handsome but that’s what he could say about any guy on the grid. Just look at Charles!
Eventually it was just the two of them in the media room and they could just sit down on the sofa and relax. Arvid leaned back into the sofa, crossing his legs over and sighing in relief. Liam tried to mimic the same air of relaxation but he was too busy overthinking what the hell had just happened.
“Have you ever…. done this before?”
Nice question Liam. Real specific.
“Not dated someone, I mean you’ve obviously dated someone I-…”
God he was a stuttering mess.
“You mean fake dated someone?” Arvid said with an amused smirk. “Yes, I have.”
Liam choked on air, shocked.
“You have!? When and who?”
He regrets asking it in such a possessive way. It wasn’t like Arvid was his, he had obviously dated other people. Liam had. He had no right to feel the sense of jealousy he was.
“One of my sister’s friends last year. She needed a date somewhere so I offered to go as her boyfriend. She’s a model so we did this for a couple of events till she got a boyfriend.”
Liam felt bad for feeling jealous, it was such a sweet thing to do for a friend. Arvid was sweet.
“Oh that’s…actually really nice. Gentlemanly.”
Liam teased which made Arvid laugh. His laugh was so pretty. The way his eyes crinkled and sparkled, how he leaned forward and don’t even get him started on his smile. It made Liam want to make him laugh more often if he got to see Arvid smile like that.
The moment was broken by a mechanic walking in and telling them they were both wanted for a debrief for the upcoming race. Liam would have to catch up with his very muddled feelings later.
