POV Sam:
Sam’s head feels like it’s being smashed into a thousand pieces.
He’s standing in the kitchen of his and Colby’s house. It’s a neat and tidy kitchen, with brown cupboards and white walls.
Sam’s vision blurs and spins.
He can feel himself shaking, unsteady on his feet.
He takes a slow step forward, trying to clear his head.
Bad idea.
The room spins, and Sam can feel himself start to fall.
He grabs something - he’s not sure what - to steady himself as he almost topples over.
“Woah, Sam, you good?” The voice cuts through Sam’s foggy brain. It’s Colby.
“Yeah, yeah.” Sam tries to mumble, but he’s not sure if the words come out right.
He realizes slowly that in his sudden wave of vertigo, he’d grabbed Colby’s arm.
The two of them had been trying to make breakfast together: eggs, toast and bacon.
Sam had had a headache since he had woken up, but the combination of standing for too long and the bright lights of the kitchen had him feeling lightheaded.
“Do you need to sit down for a minute?” Colby asks quietly. Sam’s hand is still firmly holding his arm.
“No, no. I should be-” Sam trails off as another wave of vertigo hits him, stronger than before. His vision clouds before going completely black as Sam’s knees buckle.
He collapses to the floor.
POV Colby:
“Woah, Sam!” Sam falls to the ground, his eyes rolling back in his head.
Colby lunges forward, catching his head before it hits the ground.
The two of them wind up on the ground, Sam mostly on top of Colby.
Sam is unconscious, his body limp in Colby’s arms.
“Sam. Sam! Wake up, buddy.” Colby urges, gently shaking Sam.
Sam lets out a groan, but his eyes don’t open.
“Sam?” Colby asks. “C’mon, let’s get you to bed.”
Colby carefully slides out from underneath Sam, gently resting his head on the beige tile to get a better grip.
Slowly, carefully, Colby stands up and lifts Sam bridal-style. Sam’s head falls back, laying at an angle that would cause it to be sore if left like that for too long.
Sam lets out another groan and it breaks Colby’s heart.
He carries Sam through their house and to his room, which is fairly simple with plain walls, a desk, a bed, and a nightstand with a photo of Sam and Colby. There’s also a white closet with camera stuff and ghost hunting equipment leaning on it.
Colby gently places Sam on the bed, pulling the comforter over him.
Colby then steps over to the other side of the bed and lays down next to Sam to await him waking up.
POV Sam:
Sam feels like he’s underwater.
His eyes are closed but his senses feel funny.
As he awakens, he can feel a jolt of pain behind his eyes.
“Fuck.” He swears softly. He can feel someone shift beside him.
Sam peels open his eyes to find himself in his bedroom.
How did he get here?
“Sam! You’re awake.” Colby says quietly. “How do you feel?”
“Like shit.” Sam rubs his eyes. "What happened?" "You fainted. You're sick." Sam does feel sick.
A feeling of nausea settles in his stomach.
Sam feels like throwing up.
And that’s bad, because he hasn’t eaten anything today.
“Oh, fuck.” Colby says as a gag convulses through Sam’s body.
Colby sits up on the bed, grabbing Sam’s wrist and pulling him off the bed.
Sam nearly falls over as a wave of vertigo hits him.
Another gag convulses through him.
Colby pulls him out of his room and towards the bathroom.
He guides Sam to the ground in front of the toilet.
Sam kneels there as he gags again, this time bringing something up.
Well, that is if you can count bile as something.
It stings his throat, causing him to cough.
Colby stands there beside him as Sam continues to puke into the porcelain toilet.
Sam can feel Colby move closer to him, kneeling down next to him.
Sam gags again, throwing more bile up.
“You got this.” Colby urges, putting a hand on Sam’s back.
Sam closes his eyes, leaning into the pressure.
It grounds him, easing his headache (migraine?).
Sam lets out a sigh, and Colby starts rubbing slow circles into his back.
“You wanna go back to your room?” Colby asks kindly.
Sam nods, trying to swallow the bile in the back of his throat.
“Okay. C’mon, then.” Colby says, standing and grabbing Sam’s hand.
Sam’s fingers intertwine naturally into Colby’s, his fingers far too cold in Colby’s warm grip.
Colby tries to pull Sam up off of the floor of the bathroom.
“Noooo…” Sam groans, too exhausted to move.
His headache flares and he gasps in pain.
“Just…carry me.” Sam says.
“No, c’mon, you can walk.” Colby responds, pulling Sam up more.
He pulls Sam’s arm over his shoulder, pulling him against Colby’s side.
Sam stumbles awkwardly and his head droops.
He’s so tired.
Colby guides him back to his room and onto the bed.
“Do you want anything? Some soup, or tea?” Colby asks.
Sam shakes his head, his eyes already closing.
“Will you tuck me in?” He asks. It sounds so childish, but Sam is too tired to care.
“Sure.” Colby says with a little laugh.
Sam can feel him pull the blanket over him as he falls asleep.
POV Colby:
Colby slowly, silently steps out of the room, closing the door behind him.
He walks to the kitchen, boiling some water even though Sam said he didn’t want anything. He makes some tea for when Sam wakes up, realizing after he’s made it that it will probably be cold by the time Sam wakes up.
Colby sighs, going over to sit on the couch in the living room.
The couch is gray and covered in pillows and blankets and there’s a TV across the room.
Colby turns it on, picks a show (Stranger Things) and starts watching.
After about an hour, Colby decides to check on Sam. He turns the TV off and heads upstairs to find Sam lying, awake, in bed.
He stands in the open doorway, smiling at Sam until Sam notices him.
“Hi.” Sam rasps. His voice sounds raw.
“Hey.” Colby responds, stepping into the room.
He walks over to Sam’s bed.
"You slept?" Sam nods.
“How are you feeling?”
Sam shrugs.
“Do you feel any better?”
Sam shrugs.
“Any different?”
“No!” Sam says loudly, his voice not quite reaching a yell, squeezing his eyes shut. “I don’t know what I feel! I don’t know, so will you please stop asking?” Tears pool in Sam’s eyes as he opens them. "Oh, Sam..." He feels horrible. His sick boyfriend is about to cry.
Colby climbs into the bed next to Sam, pulling him against his chest.
The tears spill over, falling from Sam’s eyes.
Sam curls into Colby, sobs spasming through him.
“I’m sorry.” Sam cries. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I don’t-”
“There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re just sick. This is normal. I’m not angry or offended; I should have known not to keep asking.”
“No it’s not your fault-”
“I know. And it’s not yours either.”
Sam curls tighter into Colby, his sobs slowly stopping. Colby kisses his forehead gently.
Colby demonstrates to Sam how to breathe deeper, and Sam copies him.
In.
Hold.
Out.
Repeat.
After a few moments, Sam has calmed down.
“I made you some tea even though you told me not to. It might not be warm now, but do you want it?”
Sam nods.
“Want me to bring it to you or do you wanna come downstairs?”
“I-I don’t know.”
“Okay, that’s fine, I’ll bring it to you.”
Colby gently pulls himself away from Sam and he lets out a small whimper.
Colby rushes downstairs, grabbing the mug and rushing back upstairs.
Sam is sitting up slightly in bed.
Colby hands him the mug which is still somewhat warm.
Sam takes a slow sip as Colby crawls into bed next to him.
Colby slings his arm over Sam’s shoulders, coming in right next to him and giving his hairline a little kiss.
Sam finishes the tea quickly and then curls back into Colby, falling asleep against him.
Come to think of it, Colby’s pretty tired too.
He knows he might get sick, but Sam is still right next to him, cuddling.
He can’t move, so he just sleeps there.
POV Sam:
Sam wakes up with his head resting on Colby’s shoulder.
He actually…feels a lot better.
His head doesn’t hurt anymore, or at least not as much.
He doesn’t feel as nauseous anymore.
Colby stirs underneath him.
“Mmmm…” Colby murmurs, and Sam watches as his eyes flicker open, revealing a beautiful deep blue colour. “You feeling better?” Colby asks, groggily.
“Yup.” Sam responds. “You aren’t sick now, though, right?”
Colby shakes his head.
“You ready to film today?” Colby asks, rubbing his eyes.
Sam nods.
“Alright, well, we should get ready then.” Colby adds.
Sam nods again.
Instead of getting ready, though, Sam decides to collapse on top of Colby.
“Woah!” A breath of air leaves Colby’s lungs and his eyes widen.
Sam leans up, leaving mere inches between their faces.
“I love you.” Sam says.
“I love you too.” Colby replies.
Sam closes the distance between them, pressing his lips against Colby’s.
Colby lets out a little noise, but presses back.
Their lips slot together perfectly.
The kiss is slow and careful, full of love and affection.
After a few seconds, Sam pulls away, remaining on top of Colby.
“Okay, Sam, I can’t breathe.” Colby wheezes.
Sam rolls off of him, laughing.
“Ready for the day?” Sam asks.
“Yeah. Yeah, I am.” Colby replies.
“Let’s go.” Sam sits up, grabbing Colby's hand and pulling him out of the room.
The two boys walk off, giggling to each other.
Happy that they're okay.
