Work Text:
Lumin flew around Ysilla’s head. His bright, bold feathering looked utterly out of place here in the North, but he brought her comfort. Ysilla and Lumin were a united scrap of Dorne, bold and unafraid.
Of course, that was not entirely true. Ysilla was afraid, though she resisted letting it show. Let no man know how much she feared them. Lumin steered clear of Lord Stark’s wolf daemon out of some shared instinct. She and he had learnt survival the hard way. Lumin, though, held onto more hope than Ysilla had. He gave her strength, and hope too.
Ysilla would always be an outsider here. Her sunbird daemon only heightened that fact. Even so, she stood with her head held high and Lumin upon her shoulder. Nobody would see her surrender again.
