Work Text:

Dear Miss von Karma,
I really hope this letter finds you well.
I have rewritten that letter four time now and it just never feels right. Like I'm writing to a prosecutor whose name I have only heard in passing and not to the woman who changed my life for the better.

To the woman who responded to my texts at two am and asked me why I was still awake
I told you I couldn't sleep. My mind was racing from that night, it being the anniversary Celeste passed away.
You said, "I understand your pain. But sometimes we have to remember we are better than our dark days. and sometimes we have to keep our head up and go to sleep at a normal time . Staying up all night worrying about past trauma isn't healthy for either of us."

I know you weren't the best at apologies and you were raised on the Von Karma's signature tough love but I felt at that moment I saw your guard let down. I know it's possible for you to be empathetic and caring. I just wish you show it to me more

Yours truly, Adrian Andrews

Dear Adrian,
Your letter arrived yesterday but why you keep sending letters to me I will never know. You are aware that I am not a sentimental person and I do not care for meaningless conversations. If you truly have the courtesy to say something, than speak to me

Regards, Franziska von Karma

Dear Miss von Karma,
You always did have a talent for making someone regret their existence but anyway thank you for responding to my letter today.
I guess I should tell you about my day today even though I feel like you won't like it.

I saw this fluffy white dog tied outside to a pole when I went to our usual coffee shop today and it barked at me and it made me think of you. Well not because people think you're a bitch but because you once told me you wanted a little white dog to follow you around the office as a way to destress. I said, "Are you gonna take care of it and make sure it doesn't have the crusty red eyes most dogs have?"
You briefly smiled for a second before going back to your resting bitch face. "Of course I will! What kind of foolish fool do you take me for?"
I remember that brief smile everyday.

Yours truly, Adrian Andrews

Dear Adrian.
You are an idiot. I have never said I wanted a dog of any kind near the von Karma law offices nor would I smile at the thought of a mangy mutt.
Your memory must be checked immediately.
Also resting bitch face? Is that what people are saying instead of being serious at all times?

Regards, Franziska von Karma

Dear Miss von Karma,
Then maybe I am misrembering something. You know that I do that a lot, right? I guess my brain just gets worse when I miss something.
I remember the crack of your whip against the courthouse vending machine, glaring at it because the machine ate your dollar again. You mumbled to yourself after the machine finally gave you the bag of chips you wanted.

I remember it but you probably don't.

Yours truly, Adrian Andrews

Dear Adrian,
Do you really not think I do not remember that?Do not mistake my silence for dumbness. I know more than you think
Regards, Franziska von Karma

Dear Miss von Karma,
That's the worst thing I have ever heard you say because now I want to know what you remembered. Do you remember the first time we met?

You just walked into the room like you owned it, immediately yelling at Phoenix , whip going everywhere. I was terrified a little. Hell, I still am a bit. But at some point in time, fear became like something else.

It feels like love.

The truth is that I loved you. At least I think I do. I don't know if I am allowed to say that so I'll write it instead and you can pretend that you didn't read this.

Yours Truly, Adrian Andrews

Dear Adrian,
God, you are a relentless fool.
I cannot stand fools in love, fools who have a crush of some sorts, fools who are just so blinded by love. And yet, I kept your letter. I kept all of your letters. I reread them every night, wondering what's wrong with me for wanting this.
I hope that is a relevant answer.

Regards, Franziska von Karma

Dear Miss von Karma
Your response isn't good but I'll take it. I suppose thats what I've always been like with you. Take whatever you will give me. I wish I could tell you that I don't care but I do. I wish that I could tell you that loving you doesn't hurt but it does. It hurts in a way that you could neve imagine and yet I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Yours truly, Adrian Andrews

Dear Adrian
Then perhaps we are both the fools in the end.
Regards, Franziska von Karma
