Chapter Text
The first day of college was always stressful, no matter what year you were in.
Miguel, Kurt & Ram, Izuku, Veronica, Vanessa and Nendou (among others) were already settled into their frat. Ellie being a gay little nerd had been in her dorm since mid-summer.
Josie has been living in their off-campus apartment almost since high school graduation.
Abby lives in the same apartment complex as Josie.
Sheldon being the smartest kid in the state, he got his own private dorm on campus.

Vanessa ambled through the hallways, skipping class per-usual — and it just so happened that Ellie was in a hurry to get to her own class at the same time. Inconveniently.
“Fuck–i’m so late!” She muttered under her breath, not looking ahead.
The two collided, and one gay ass nerd fell backwards. But before she could make contact with the ground, an arm snaked around her waist.
They were far too close for comfort. Their breaths mingled, as Ellie’s voice caught. Ellie’s eyes lingered on Vanessa’s mouth, her jaw falling slightly slack.
Vanessa had to be the one to break the silence; pulling Ellie to her feet and shoving their hands back into their letterman jackets pockets. Ellie stepped back, forming desperately needed space.
“You good?” Vanessa tilted their head to the side, their brownish-blonde waves shifting with their movement.
Ellie eyed Vanessa up and down before clearing her throat. “Mhm. Sorry for uh–b-bumping into you and shit…” Ellie stammered.
“Stop embarrassing yourself Ellie! This is a frat we’re talking to, and they're exactly our type too. Get a goddamn grip!” Ellie scolded herself internally.
“It’s chill. Ellie, right?” Vanessa asked. “Oh, u-uh, yeah.” Ellie’s eyes widened. “They know my name?! Vanessa knows my fucking name?!” Ellie thought.
“See ‘ya around then, Ellie” Vanessa waved as they brushed past Ellie. Ellie stood there for a moment, questioning everything about that interaction.
Her own thoughts tumbled over one another in a messy race of DO THEY WANT THIS COOKIE OR JUST BEING NICE?
“What the fuck—ohmygod—what was that?!” Ellie argued with her conscience. “I sounded so STUPID goddamnit! Meta, kill me.”
—
Josie sat in class pretending to take notes while scrolling on their phone. “Y’know you should really focus in this class,” Josie hears someone whisper behind them. Josie turns around to see Abby Anderson — one of the top students in their grade.
“Easy for you to say that, you’re like the smartest one in this class,” Josie says, turning back around and kicking their feet up on the desk.
“I could tutor you if you needed any help,” Abby offers, desperately trying to hold onto the conversation.
“Sure, I guess.” Josie replies while scribbling their phone number onto a corner of lined writing paper.
“We live in same apartment building, so you could come over anytime,” Abby tells Josie as Josie hands the paper to Abby.
“Yeah I’ll just do that, thanks,” Josie says, “are you going to give me your number?” Josie asks.
“Oh yeah, could I just put it in your phone?” Abby asks.
“Sure,” Josie hands Abby her phone. While Abby’s adding her number into Josie’s contacts she sees someone texting Josie about buying meth. Abby hands Josie her phone back,
“You uhm…got a message while I was adding my number.”
“shit! of course my client had to text while I was getting a girl’s number!” Josie says internally. “Anyway…I’ll call you,” Josie tells Abby, as they reply to their client.
