Chapter Text
Last online 13 days ago.
Almost two weeks of silence. Was he mad? Was he okay? Was he thinking of you, like you’re thinking of him?
You had already re read all your conversations, since the first ‘hi, I liked your analysis on All Might’s speech’ till the last ‘I can’t deal with this now, I really need to go’. Layed on your bed blasting angsty teenager music with your hands over your chest, clutching your shirt. You cried yourself to sleep soaking your pillow with tears, thinking about him, about your friendship, your feelings for him. Wondering if you had really fucked everything up.
You haven’t met in person and yet you felt so much for him. You felt a little pathetic about it. But he was your first true friend, and you knew you were his too.
And now, while you were turning in your chair in front of the computer, you heard a pop sound.
BeyondPlusUltra is online.
Your hands rushed to the keyboard, you typed:
Izuku, I’m sorry if I said anything wrong, I just wanted you to know…
And you erased it all.
Are you mad at me?
You hit enter, and waited. But as soon as he read it, he went offline again.
You didn’t know how much longer you could take it. Was he purposefully ignoring you? Giving you the silent treatment? The Izuku you knew, or the Izuku you thought you knew, wouldn’t do something that petty. Something must be going on in his life, that’s why he wasn’t answering you. That must be the reason…
And then, another pop sound notification, you run your ass to the computer and click on the conversation.
BeyondPlusUltra: I’m not mad
it’s just complicated
Fuck, what could you write back? You have thought about this, almost every waking moment these past few days. What would you answer back? But as soon as you typed some bullshit like “Then why are we not talking?” or “I can handle complicated” you saw he was typing again. So you erased everything.
BeyondPlusUltra: I don’t know how to explain this but
I got a quirk, can’t explain much more than that, don’t know how it just happened
I’m training before and after school
you’re the first person i’m telling this
You skimmed first, then the ‘I got a quirk’ part got you confused, so you re read it a couple of times while he was typing more. You decided not to push to know more, you just got back to talking after two weeks, you were the first person he told? Not even his mom?
BeyondPlusUltra: I’m tired and busy that’s all
‘did you miss me?’ you wanted to ask, but you held yourself back.
AllMightsLeftSock: I worried about you
next time let me know you’re going to disappear or something
BeyondPlusUltra: promise I will
no more typing… you decided to ask
AllMightsLeftSock: how are you doing? preparing for the entrance exam?
BeyondPlusUltra: yeah that’s why i’m tired lol
you?
Was he colder? Did he really want to know? Or was he asking to be polite? Your fingers hovered over the keyboard.
AllMightsLeftSock: training hard, studying hard
BeyondPlusUltra: that’s good
hope to see you there :)
AllMightsLeftSock: same
hey can I ask you something
BeyondPlusUltra: shoot
AllMightsLeftSock: are we still friends?
BeyondPlusUltra: of course we are
my mom’s calling me to dinner
talk to u later
He signed off, you left out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. So he wasn’t ignoring you, you were still friends, he got a quirk, however the hell that happened, you didn’t know. Or… maybe he was lying? Maybe he pitied you for being quirkless and having no friends, so was kind to you for the last six months. And now he got tired. Maybe he realized you were a fucking loser.
In a month, you were going to UA’s entrance exam. You had almost forgotten about that the past two weeks, your mind and heart were too focused on Izuku. On why the two of you fought. You were so far behind your studying schedule. But if you sacrificed sleep hours, you could maybe get in the support course. You were a quirkless nerd, that was your best shot to insert yourself in the hero world. You weren’t as hopeful as Izuku was, to get in the hero course without a quirk… but now, he had one?
You felt dizzy. Too much thinking, too little water during the whole day. You got up slowly and drunk some water of one of the many forgotten bottles that crowded your desk, making it look like an altar. It was pretty late, you should have gone to sleep hours ago, yet since you knew you were so far behind, you sat your ass on your chair and opened your notebook. Time to write down a plan and stick to it for the next month. Izuku was your first true friend, online friend, true, you reminded yourself. But not less of a friend because of that. You couldn’t control what Izuku felt or did, but you could do your best not to get left behind once again.
