Sunlight shone through half-drawn curtains, leaving dappled patterns over freckled skin and baby blue fabric, and waking the peacefully dozing brunet with a leaf-shaped spot of sun over his eyes, jostling him into his equally peaceful reality.
Leo made a small noise halfway between a hum and a light groan, stirring and nuzzling his face into golden hair, holding a hand up to shield Kal from the sun. Grey-blue eyes squinted open against the sun and petal-pink lips curled up in a smile when Leo laid eyes on the blond beside him, who was, as of the day before, his husband.
Leo pressed a kiss to the top of Kal's head and shifted his hand so that the blond's face was still shaded from the rapidly brightening room, with a low murmur of, "I love you.".
The brunet kept his arm up for a good twenty minutes -or so he guessed, he wasn't quite sure- even when it began to ache but after a while he was forced to drop it from the cramping, gently laying his arm over Kal's waist instead and muttering a soft 'sorry' into silk-soft hair.
Kal stirred with a soft noise not unlike the one Leo had made, though more like a vaguely confused hum, the prince rubbing at an eye with his knuckle and squinting against the Sun, whose light was still tinted with a blush of pink. Kalceran rolled over to face Leo, cupping the brunet's cheek and pulling his face closer to nuzzle their noses together with an affectionate, "Hi,".
Leo grinned so hard it nearly hurt. "Hi,". "Did you sleep alright?" Kal asked, twisting his fingers absently through Leo's chocolate curls -which had grown out pleasantly over the course of their engagement and had finally reached beyond his shoulders.
"Yeah," Leo agreed, leaning into the soft touch with a content hum, eyes fluttering half shut. "Did you?". "Mhm, very well." Kal pecked the bridge of Leo's nose and added, "Good morning, Leo. I love you.". Leo grinned wider, blush dying his face a rather lobster-like shade of red as he leaned their foreheads together. "Morning, Kal. I love you too. So much.".
Kal laughed softly, cheeks turning a pleasant shade of strawberry pink. "Now aren't you sweet.". The brunet let out a light chuckle, eyes curving up happily as he looped his arms around his husband's waist and snuggled his face into the crook of Kal's neck. "Is this alright?".
Kal stroked the top of Leocoril's head and brushed a kiss to the soft brown curls. "Mhm, it's fine. Comfortable?". Leo nodded, tilting his head up into Kal's hand like a touch-starved cat. "Very,".
They laid like that quietly for a moment, Leo listening to Kal's heartbeat as the blond played with his hair but after a bit the brunet broke the silence with a tentative, "Hey, Kal?". "Yes, Treasure?" Kal asked, his hand stilling for a moment.
"Remind me what's my name again?" Leo asked, raising his head to make eye contact, his smile almost shy. Kalceran looked mildly confused but nevertheless complied, cupid's bow lips curved in an indulgent smile as he let out a little chuckle. "Leo?".
Leo smiled and kissed Kal's cheek before clarifying, "My full name. And your voice is pretty.". The strawberry blush on Kal's face darkened a few shades at the compliment, ears perking happily. "Oh, thank you, Cori.". Kal kissed the top of Leo's head again; mouth pressed to soft curls as he emended, "Leocoril Castelet.".
A giddy bolt of warmth shot straight up Leo's spine, the brunet once again burying his face in Kal's neck with a delighted noise. "Again?". Kal stroked his thumb along one of his husband's many scars with his free hand and said again, voice warm, "Leocoril Castelet.".
Leo let out a happy sigh before swinging the blond on top of him with a delighted laugh, Kal letting out a surprised but amused 'oh!'. Leo grinned up at Kalceran, catching the blond's hand in his and bringing it to his lips. "I can't believe I'm married to you.".
Kal let out a soft chuckle and leaned down to whisper as if it were a secret, "I can't believe I'm married to you either.". Leo nuzzled his nose against Kal's and whispered back, equally secretive, "Sometimes I think it's a dream and I'm going to wake up any second.". "You're not," Kal assured, pressing a little kiss to the side of Leocoril's nose and making the brunet's smile widen. "We're married, I can promise you that.".
Leo's grin widened even farther, cheeks hollowing with dimples as he let out a delighted laugh before pressing his lips to Kal's in a chaste kiss, repeating against cupid's bow lips, "We're married.".
"We're married." Kal repeated with a happy sigh, leaning his forehead to Leo's. Storm blue eyes met baby blue, both squinted with happiness as they both exclaimed delightedly, "We're married!". The two dissolved into laughter, Kal's hands cupping Leo's cheeks, their foreheads pressed together and Leo's hands resting comfortably on either side of Kal's waist.
Slowly they came down from the high of their shared mirth, tears of laughter glistening in both shades of blue eyes as they both gasped through chuckling aftershocks.
Kal twirled one of his husband's curls around his finger, humming softly for a moment before asking playfully, "So, Prince Consort Leocoril Castelet, how does it feel to be royalty?".
Leo squirmed his face into Kal's palm, prompting an airy chuckle from the blond as he screwed up his face in an imitation of thinking, ears perking happily when Kal began to stroke his thumb along the brunet's cheekbone. "Hmmm,". "Considering that I'm married to the love of my life?" Leo asked, making Kal flush at his words, the prince's ears perking with delight. "Pretty damn good.".
Kal gave a light chuckle and tapped a finger to Leo's nose. "You're sweet.". The brunet grinned, closing his eyes for a moment with a soft content sigh. "I'm tired.". Kal nuzzled his nose against his husband's cheek, pressing little kisses along the freckled skin that made Leo squirm with delight. "It's pretty early, we can sleep longer if you'd like.".
"That'd be great." Leo murmured into the blond's hair, rolling over so that they were both laying on their sides, facing each other. Kal leaned up, pressing a chaste kiss to his husband's lips and whispering against them, "Sweet dreams, Leo.".
Leo's grin widened as he buried his face in silky gold hair, breathing in the smell of lavender, arms tightening ever so slightly around his husband. "Sweet dreams, Kal.".
