Katsuki sits down at the table in his bedroom and pulls out his notes from class. He places the ones for math on top. Kirishima always needs extra help for that subject. He’s smart when it comes to most subjects but numbers scramble any sense he has. Katsuki stretches his arms out, still a bit sore from hero training, and glances at the door. He is waiting for Kirishima to return from the kitchen with drinks. His eyes wander over his room, landing on Kirishima’s own disorganized notes.
Katsuki decides to read them. He might as well see what Kirishima jots down during class. Lately, it seems like absolutely nothing with how much Katsuki has to reteach him. Even the teachers have been calling him out for not paying attention. He hopes it’s something benign and that Kirishima isn’t stressing about something or having nightmares.
After picking up the notes, Katsuki immediately notices the glaring issue, almost nothing in class has been written down. There are very few words at all. Most of his pages are consumed by various drawings… of Katsuki?!
He would describe the drawings as decent if it weren’t for the knife-like teeth gracing every scowl and rare smile of his. Does Kirishima draw everyone with teeth like his? Fucking why though?
Katsuki becomes distracted from that question as he realizes what else Kirishima put down. Hearts, stars, and sparkles hover around each mini-Katsuki. A few words dot the pages, too. Some of the Katsukis have speech bubbles with words like ‘Die!’, ‘Fuck you!’, and ‘Shitty idiot!’. A few others have thought bubbles containing more… romantic thoughts. He grimaces at the bubbles with ‘My idiot’ and ‘Pretty hair’.
On one, more detailed drawing, Kirishima drew arrows pointing to various parts of Katsuki. His hair is labelled ‘Soft?’, his eyes are ‘Fiery’, and his jagged mouth is ‘Pointy’ for some fucking reason.
As Katsuki flips through more pages, he reads some lines that sound like the beginning of a confession. Kirishima waxed poetically about Katsuki’s bravery, strength, and passion. All of them are crossed out.
Loud footsteps outside the door interrupts his investigation. Katsuki tosses the notes back to the other side of the table just as Kirishima enters with drinks. Katsuki doesn’t mention any of those ridiculous doodles during their study session. He just beats the concepts Kirishima should have been learning into his head.
But, when Kirishima leaves again to refill their drinks, Katsuki digs Kirishima’s hero laws notebook out of his backpack and opens up to the next blank page and starts drawing. He is finished by the time his friend returns. He still doesn’t say a word, and an hour later Katsuki kicks him out, so he can get ready for bed.
The next day, before class starts, Katsuki hears Kirishima and Dunce Face’s inane conversation end with a loud startled noise. He idly looks back to see Kirishima blushing and sputtering at Katsuki’s drawing. Katsuki and Kirishima’s drawn faces stare back up at Kirishima’s shocked face. His drawing is accurate, and he made sure to point that out with a huge arrow pointing to his 2D counterpart’s non-jagged smile. Katsuki disregards that Kirishima’s red face is less likely caused by any shame over his inaccuracies and more likely due to their drawings holding hands. He faces back to the front with a smirk as Kirishima is scolded by Aizawa for disturbing his nap. Serves his idiot right.
