"Well, yes, I do see your point, but I feel that's a little weird? There's minimal evidence that he's even the one committing these crimes--"
"I assure you, my deduct-" He pauses as his voice strays to a much too high pitch. "My deductions aren't wrong." L finishes, his lips slightly down turned with a soft frown. Of course he has had voice cracks before, as he is just a boy, but it didn't comfort him that it was normal for boys who went through puberty. He didn't like the idea that one day, he would be 26 years old, and his brains wouldn't be impressive anymore. "Excuse me for that slip up."
Another man on the other side of the screen laughs half heartedly. "Yeah, what was that about, dude?"
L ignores the man whose decided they must be on good enough terms for 'bro names' and makes grabby hands at the plate of cake that Wammy is holding. Wammy frowns a bit, but ultimately ends up handing the cake over without much of a fight. L is only a fifteen year old, after all, and if it was anyone's fault that L was as childish as he was, it was his own.
L makes quick work of stuffing his face with cake before answering, with his mouth full, mind you, "Puberty."
Some laughs ring out. "You don't seem like you would be funny, but that joke certainly was, I'll give you that!" The same man says as he laughs once again. "Mind if I borrow it?"
L didn't blame him for thinking he was joking, since from what he knew, it was not common for a teenager to have taken the spot of the worlds second best detective. On that thought, it made him feel some oddly warm feeling in his stomach, and despite Wammy saying that he should feel pride for having come so far in only seven years, he recognizes it as jealousy. He vows that one day, he'll be the top detective as well as the second, and the third, and maybe if he was so inclined, the fourth and fifth.
He picks at a bump on his chin, which is another sign he is growing up, and glances at Wammy, as if asking how he should respond. Wammy looks back, his usually kind gaze devoid of any helpfulness.
When L sighs, he hopes its inaudible to the people on the other side. When he hears a whispered, "You idiot!" He comes to the conclusion that they had heard him sigh. L shovels some more cake into his mouth, paying their conversion no mind.
"I do not mind at all. But I feel we have somewhat strayed from what we were talking about earlier, and I feel like that matter is much more important than discussing comedy. Shall we continue with our previous subject?"
