Work Text:
It was all crumbling before her.
She screamed out while two members of her flock were pitted against each other in the arena. She stood on the ledge with her hands gripping onto her upper arms. Her wings fold tightly behind herself as she stared at the scene in horror.
It was happening all over again.
She turns her head sharply to Pearl after she tries to jump in to replace one of them. Her gaze darted to Pyro who stood there with his expression hidden behind his helm. She could tell he was upset by the way he gripped the shield he could never put down.
And the worst thing isn't the fact that her boys were put in the arena. It was the fact that Nikos decided to blame it all on her. Telling her this wouldn't have happened if she had just taken the fall for them. That was what she was trying all day. She was trying to get everyone's attention on her and it didn't even-
She blinked only for a moment, but the match was over when she opened her eyes. She lets go of her arms with a swift turn of her body. She steps off the ledge in a hurry to leave the arena. Her wings shook with each step she took, dragging across the stone flooring. she could hear Pyro and Pearl following after her.
"This was inevitable.." Owen spoke when he heard her approach him. She turns to her with his staff out to touch the ground below her. "I saw it myself, so I voted myself in."
"You what?!" Apo's eyes widened as she stopped in front of him. She reached out to grab her by the shoulders. "Owen you can't-"
"We can't change what happens." Owen spoke firmly with his hand lifting up to touch her shoulder. "It's okay."
Apo lowers her head with her hair falling forward to cover her face. She hears Pearl and Pyro talk, but she has tuned them out with her mind consuming her thoughts. Before she knew it, she had pulled Nikos and herself into the dream realm.
It was a messy and emotional fight. Both shouting aggressive words at each other. She didn't know what the cost would be for this, but she had to do something about this anger building up inside of her. She needed to defeat him. She really needed to-
It was over as fast as it started. She breathes heavily with tears building up in her eyes. She had less hearts than before. She's weak..
