Work Text:
Taesan was exhausted. Completely fatigued.
He had just endured three hours of names, faces , titles, family histories and even more names. Three painful hours of carefully rehearsed smiles and careful words. Three excruciating hours of strangers explaining why their child, whom he's never even met previously, would be the ideal spouse and future ruler. Just the thought of having to do it all again the next day made him want to sink into his linen bedding permanently.
Honestly, the potential candidates were not even half bad. He would even say they were almost too perfect for him. Of course, his parents being the perfectionists they are, intentionally hand-picked the best of the best. Hence, he's not even the slightest bit surprised by the outstanding achievements presented to him, some of which included grand stages and medical genius.
Taesan believed if they really were as incredible as they claim to be, they'd be a thousand times better off enhancing their skills in their respective fields rather than marrying him.
'Scrape..'
In conclusion, he was the very least bit interested in choosing a spouse and would sincerely rather fight a darn dragon.
'Scrape...'
Taesan could only attempt to bury his wandering mind and try to sleep. He clearly needed it since he was apparently hearing things now. He could've very well sworn he heard an odd scraping noise echoing outside his window, but well.. that was near impossible wasn't it? He turned his head towards his head towards the large, open window on his right.
'Scraaape..'
Okay, perhaps he was not hallucinating noises due to his exhaustion. The dark-haired male undeniably heard something that time. That was kind of concerning, wasn't it?
Just as he was about to sit up on his over-sized bed, a person wrapped in the shadows of the night stumbled into his room. 'Oh...' he blinked almost nonchalantly, 'should I play dead..?' Which was a completely ridiculous thought for a fully trained prince with a sword casually lying on the wall beside his bed and four guards standing outside his chambers to have. Alas, it was the one that entered his mind anyway.
The entire idea of alarming his awaiting guards of the intruder completely flew out of his mind the moment his potential assassinator stepped into the moonlight. 'Holy fuck,' was what crossed his mind instead. 'Who the fuck is the angel that just tripped inside my room'. He thought he would not mind being assassinated if the creature currently in his line of sight would be the one doing it.
Taesan could only remain motionless and dumbstruck on his bed as he watched the ethereal curly-blonde fairy with the cutest face and the prettiest pout tripped and stumbled all the way to where he was laying.
Perhaps, he realized, he should be a tad bit more concerned for his safety. As the eldest prince of the kingdom and the only eligible heir at that, he had quite a decent number of responsibilities he should care for. However, the only thing on his mind at the moment is how impressed he is by the fact this pretty thing had scaled five floors to get into his room, but could not walk five steps without tripping at least twice. Honestly, if he went through all that trouble to get in here...
"Okay.. okay," the fluffy-looking creature whom Taesan is very much beginning to conclude really couldn't be human squeaked out. "I can do this. I can do this."
Now isn't that a little strange. Since when do assassins perform pep talks for themselves in front of their perceived targets...? Taesan was seriously doubting the legitimacy of this supposed assassination attempt. He was also slightly swooning for the velvety voice of the mysterious intruder.
In a split second, the otherworldly being reached the corner of his bed with a damp-looking handkerchief clutched in their trembling hand. The prince held still, breath and all, and kept his gaze on the approaching figure. He really should be thinking to alert the guards by now. Unfortunately, the only thoughts consuming his mind at the moment was how gorgeous the stranger standing above him was and how clumsy they seemed to be as well. Well those, and many other variations of the exact same concepts. Lucky for Prince Taesan, his face was mostly shielded by the shadows of his bed frame.
"O-oh..." the little fairy wheezed out, "Taesan.. Taesannie... Dongminnie." The words were practically whined airily. 'Huh?' Taesan's spiraling mind came to a sudden halt, 'That sounds a lot less like someone paid to kill me and more like someone obsessed with me...' And oddly enough, he finds he doesn't mind that option much either.
One more step closer and... the clumsy, pretty, clumsy fae looking human trips once more. Right into Taesan's startled arms.
They both stared dumbly at each other for what felt like an eternity. Even the narrator was starting to get antsy. Taesan blinked, "Well, hello there." He could see the panic begin to paint the soft features of the beautiful creature inches above his own face.
"Oh."
"Oh no."
The fluffy blonde instantly began a very unfortunate excuse of a struggle. Taesan's eyes widened a fraction before he caught himself. He seized the thin wrists threatening to cover his airways with the sogging handkerchief. "No, no, no, no," the blonde changed tactics, choosing to no longer attempt to follow through with his original plan.
'Oh.' Taesan let the smirk grow on his smug face before flipping their positions in one swift movement. "Trying to run away, are we?" The self-satisfaction was dripping from his tone of voice. He felt like the cat that caught the cream, or mayhaps the black cat that caught the fae would be more accurate. The blonde's eyes were beginning to glimmer with the first appearance of tears. Taesan almost felt bad if it weren't for the odd sadistic urge tugging at his every nerve. 'How does someone look even more enchanting crying..?'
"L-let me go," the fairy whimpered through a quivering pout. "Your highness, I.. I'm sorry, your highness." Taesan felt like he won every commoner lottery at once.
The prince adjusted his grip on the wrists he was trapping. He had no intention of letting this little fairy run away or get hurt. He closed the distance between their faces until he could count each shuddering lash of the darling caged between his arms. "Your highness?" He reveled in the fear radiating off of the shivering body under him. 'God.. I've never felt this perverted before.'
"What happened to Dongminnie?" he teased, "Hmmm?" He couldn't keep himself from teasing. "Weren't you so bold earlier?"
