Work Text:

Vodyanitsa entered the apartment, sighing as she set down her keys on the small table near the door. Taking her shoes off, she noticed that it was oddly quiet. Weird. It typically wasn't quiet in the house unless Mitya wasn't home. And yet his car was out front...

She peeked into the living room, witnessing a weird sight. Mitya was sitting on the couch, phone in hand, looking distraught. Alyosha was sat next to him, idly petting Tugarin while rubbing small circles into the former's arm. Odette was sitting on the floor, looking like she was trying to blow Mitya up with her mind.

"What's going on here, hm?" Vodyanitsa hummed out, entering the living room and crossing her arms while leaning her weight onto one side. Her partners glanced up at her, Mitya's bottom lip quivering slightly.
"Oh, it's horrible! The worst thing to happen to me ever!" The light haired man exclaimed, bouncing up and rushing over to her. He wrapped his arms around her, putting his head on her shoulder and closing his eyes while pouting.

"Um... what happened? Did you get fired?" She asked, slowly bringing her arms up to embrace Mitya in return. Odette sighed. Alyosha had turned his attention onto his dog, giving the good boy scratches behind the ears. Mitya shook his head.
"Worse."
"Okay... did your files corrupt on a game?"
"Closer, but no."
"Then what happened?"

Mitya pulled away from her, opening his eyes and holding his hands close to his chest, clutching his phone. His eyes held unshed tears. She wanted to reach up and wipe them away, but she stood firm and, depending on what happened, would go ahead with wiping his eyes.

Odette decided that was the perfect time to stand and walk over.
"He lost his phone." She spoke out. There was silence as Vodyanitsa tried to process just how dumb Mitya could be. She turned her gaze to Odette, who mouthed an 'I know' to her.

"... Right. Where's the last place you put it?" She finally spoke, turning her gaze back to her boyfriend. He took a second to think back.
"On my bed. I was playing with it and set it down to write something in my notebook because I didn't want to forget the idea. And when I went back to grab it, it wasn't there anymore." He explained, shuffling his feet together.

...Well, she was in need of some entertainment today.

"Maybe it fell under your bed?" She suggested, giving a playful smile. Odette raised a brow while Mitya's eyes lit up.
"Oh, maybe! Thank you, gorgeous!" He exclaimed, giving her a kiss on the cheek before rushing off to his room.

"You're indulging him?" Odette whispered out, stepping closer to give Vodyanitsa a small kiss herself.
"Mm... yep! It'll be funny to see his face. Speaking of, c'mon. Let's go... 'help' him." She giggled. Odette let out a huff of fondness, before glancing behind her. Alyosha had taken to rough housing with Tugarin. How she'd manage to not notice them doing so was a feat in itself.
"Alyosha, my dearest handsomest puppy boy!!" She called out, rushing over to the two and waiting for Tugarin to get off of him to lay on him instead. "Wanna join us in Mitya's room? We're um... gonna watch him realize he hasn't lost his phone."

Alyosha looked up at her, an expression of soft surprise written on his face. His cheeks were slightly flushed, both from playing with his dog and the fact that his girlfriend was now laying on top of him.
"Sure. We'd better hurry then." He sounded out, breathing heavier than normal. Hands found their way to Vodyanitsa's waist, and she leaned into the touch with a hum.
"Alright. Let's go!" She popped back up into a standing position, helping the other stand as well before leading him to Mitya's room.

Odette had gone ahead of them and was sitting on the scientist's bed. Said scientist was currently laying on the ground next to the bed, looking under it and using his phone's flashlight. Vodyanitsa had to supress a giggle at the sight. She allowed Alyosha to drag her to Mitya's desk, sitting down in the chair himself before guiding her to sit in his lap. She sighed comfortably, leaning against him and soaking up his warmth.

"I don't see it!!" Mitya groaned out, sitting up with a frown and furrowed brows. He turned the flash on his phone off before his eyes darted between the other three in the room. "Can one of you call it?"

Silence. Alyosha barely knew how to turn his phone on, Odette had left hers in her room, and Vodyanitsa... she pretended to be asleep. Mitya pouted at the three of them.
"What the hell..." he muttered out, hanging his head. All eyes were on him, ready to cheer (or laugh) once he 'found' his phone.

The moment was slow. Mitya gazed down into his lap, where his hands were. He saw that he had his phone in his hand. It took a few seconds for it to click in his mind that his phone was in his hand. And his face lit up in realization.
"Ohh!!" He drew out, holding up his phone for everyone to see. He then smiled and started laughing. "It was in my hand the whole time!"

The other three stifled their laughter. Odette hid her face in her knees, Alyosha looked up at the ceiling, and Vodyanitsa had to turn and bury her face into Alyosha's chest. Her body was shaking slightly with the effort it took for her to not laugh.
"You guys never told me! What the hell!?" Mitya exclaimed, the smile never leaving his face. Vodyanitsa started giggling, which set off Alyosha and Odette. Mitya joined in the laughter as well. What an entertaining event for the day.
