"Are you an idiot?" Mydei growled, his voice even sharper than usual. "Just standing there, gawking like it was your first time on a battlefield... I should've let you get crushed."
This was where Phainon would have usually snapped back with his own snarky comment, but the words died on his tongue as his brain caught up with the situation. Namely, their proximity. The alcove was barely large enough to accommodate one of them, let alone both. In this position, Mydei had him pinned against the wall, with not nearly enough room between them to do anything but press up against each other.
Phainon swore he could feel the other man's heartbeat drumming against his own, though surely his was much faster.

Xingqiu decides that the perfect way to get his parents off his back about marriage is to get engaged to a perfect girl with great business prospects and stop wasting everyone's time. Easy! Now he can spend all his newfound free time with Chongyun, his best friend in the whole world. This is a great solution with no downsides. :)
