Work Text:
Lucy loves riding with Tim to work, she loves being able to sleep in (so to speak if he doesn’t eagerly wake her up to do other things). She loves that he makes the coffee, and sometimes breakfast in the mornings. She loves that she gets to sit next to him all the way to work.
And most of all—
She loves that she isn’t rushing to get ready at home. She can bring her makeup and put it on in the car.
She does exactly that.
Tim woke her up with his head between her thighs and then they spent a little more time in bed. He eventually got up first and gave her a kiss before heading to the kitchen.
She doesn’t really want to get up not after that but she does. She gathers up her makeup and puts it in her bag and then heads to the kitchen.
“Just in time,” he says handing her the coffee mug. “We need to get going.” Lucy nods and follows Tim out the door.
She starts putting her makeup on, and realizes Tim is driving carefully (he always does but this seems deliberate).
“Do you need the windows up?” He asks her and he rolls them up before she answers.
“Thank you.” She says and looks over at him. She has her eye shadow on, it wasn’t anything crazy just a light layer. She knows she will be running around and the last thing she needs is the heat ruining her makeup.
“There’s a sharp turn ahead.” Tim says looking over at her. She now has her mascara wand in hand. “I don’t want your eye getting poked out.”
“You seem very attentive this morning.” Lucy says remembering their other activities this morning. He was very attentive then too, making sure she was satisfied and content.
“I just don’t want your makeup getting ruined.” He says.
“Who are you and what have you done with Tim Bradford?” Lucy asks teasingly.
“I’m just helping you out.if you rather me not—” He starts but Lucy shakes her head. She loves this man so much. More than she ever thought possible.
“No I appreciate it.” She says and finishes putting the mascara on. She reaches down for her lipstick. She feels Tim’s eyes on her as she uncaps it.
“There’s a pothole ahead.” He says. “I would wait for that.” She gives him amused look.
“Thanks babe.” She says and sure enough she feels the truck dip a little and then come back up. “They really need to fix those.”
“You would think.” Tim says. Lucy uncaps the lipstick and starts putting it on. She pulls the mirror down and smoothes it out.
“You know you don’t need all that makeup.” Tim says and he takes a turn. “You are perfect without it.”
“Well aren’t you the flatter this morning.” Lucy says. “But trust me I do.”
“You don’t.” He argues. Lucy blows out a breath, she’s not sure she will win this one. “I’ve seen you without makeup.”
“It’s scary. Especially in the morning.” She says and looks in the mirror to make sure her makeup is perfect. It’s minimal but it looks good.
“No.” Tim says shaking his head. Lucy gives him a look before reaching over to squeeze his hand that’s on the console.
“I appreciate the compliments Tim. But you are dating and living with me.”
“So?” Tim says shrugging. Lucy lets out a laugh, clearly this morning put him in a really good mood.
“Never mind.” Lucy says. “I appreciate it.” Tim nods and squeezes her hand before letting it go. She moves back to putting the finishing touches on her face. They were almost to work so she only had a few more minutes to finish it up.
“I like carpooling.” Lucy says as Tim pulls into the parking lot. “So thank you for driving and warning me about the potholes.”
“It won’t be the last time.” Tim says as he pulls into his parking spot. “I’m guessing you will be doing this often.”
“As long as we wake up later and I can take my time. Yes.” Lucy says and it feels quite good to know that Tim wants to make sure she’s taken care of.
“Deal.” Tim says. “You still like living with me?” Lucy nods remembering what she said the other day.
“Yes.”
“Why else do you like living with me?” He asks. Lucy gives him a look, and she would get into that later.
“That’s for later.” She says. “Now it’s time for work.” Tim sighs but nods and leans in to kiss her gently careful not to ruin her newly applied lipstick.
“Fine.”
“Maybe I will wake you up tomorrow morning.” She says and doesn’t wait for his reply, just smirks at the look on his face and hops out of the truck.
This was going to be a very good day.
