Work Text:
After seven years of studying under Qifrey, learning, and figuring out a spell to free her mother from forbidden magic, Coco finally found a way to do so. And all within the bounds of what the rules of the knights moralis uphold.
Coco stood inside of her freshly freed house. The memories of her childhood that was abruptly interrupted, all slowly coming back to her. The fabrics, and clothes that were in the progress of being made, the stool she used to use to stand on top of when cutting fabrics, the table her mother first taught her how to draw lines on fabric. The very thing that connected her old life to the ones of the witches.
"Coco!" Agott called out from by the door of the home, "Your mother has woken up"
Light shone in Coco's eyes, and her expression transformed from plain to excited, scared, glad? I guess that all those years without properly seeing your mom would do such things to you.
Noticing, as she always does, Agott spoke. "Are you alright my dear?" she took a couple steps towards the green haired girl.
"Agott, have you ever been scared to face your mom after a long— Wait, of course you have, how could I forget. I'm sorry" She rambled.
"Coco," said Agott, taking another step closer to the other girl, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You haven't seen your mom in a long time, I completely understand, anyone would. And it's alright to feel so weird, awkward, and scared about it"
Pulling Coco closer to herself with both hands now, she continued. "I know that you've been longing to see and hold her, as much as she does to you"
Tears threatened to spill from Coco's lashes, and Agott responded to that with cradling her face in her hands.
"Come now? Let's go to her together, just like how we talked about. Or is there anything else you'd like to tell me, dear?"
Coco, stood frozen for a second, seeming as though she did have something to say.
"Agott, could it…" Coco started, her voice ever so slightly shaky.
Agott offered a hum in response, waiting for Coco to continue.
"Would it be alright with you if I could tell my mom about us?"
And almost without thinking, Agott's reply came instantaneous. "Of course my dear,"
"You can tell her all about us" She finished, giving a quick peck on the cheek to Coco right after.
Coco giggled at the contact, feeling ticklish.
"Shall we go then?" Agott asked, her hand reaching down to tangle itself with Coco's, to which Coco gladly held.
"Of course" Coco answered, before leading the way outside.
"Look! They've finally come out!" Tetia exclaimed, pointing at the duo slowly immerging from the house that had just been freed from crystallized stone. Heads turning to look straight at them, Richeh was first to spot the entangled hands between the two lovebirds, before informing Tetia with an exchanged look. Both stared at Coco and Agott all smugly.
Agott seemed to take notice first, her face presenting itself in a dark shade of red. While Coco's head was already preoccupied with the sight of her mom dead ahead, sitting atop a pile of the girls' cloaks. And at that moment, she could not hold herself back anymore. Coco ran straight ahead to where the arms of her mother held outstretched. But a hand still remained entangled in another's. So as she did, essentially, she dragged Agott towards the same path.
However, Just luckily did Agott manage to free herself just in time before Coco threw herself into her mom, letting herself be held tightly by the person she had almost lost to forbidden magic all those years ago.
"Mom! I've missed you so much" Coco said in between sobs, burring herself deeper into her mother's shoulder, taking in the scent she's missed.
"My sweet girl, you're so big now" Her mom said. "I don't imagine I could carry you now at this state" She let out a laugh through the tears that kept and kept on spilling.
Coco's sobs only seemed to intensity at that. "I'm not your little girl anymore"
"Nonsense, you'll always be my sweet little girl despite anything"
Time seemed to slow for the two in each other's embrace. The others simply watched from where they stood, proud and happy for the result everything that Coco has been working hard towards has finally been fulfilled.
A few moments passed as eventually the shared tears between the two came to a halt. That was when Coco's mother finally took complete acknowledgement of the people around her. A tall white haired man, another man with dark black hair, and three other girls around the same age as Coco. One with pink hair tied up in a pigtail, another with long flowy light blue hair, and the last one had dark short curly hair. Had these been the people that's been taking care, and accompanying her daughter?
"Forgive me for not acknowledging you all sooner" She said, as she attempted to take a stand. I'd say attempted because Agott was first to react to it. She reached out to stop the action of Coco's freshly freed mom from getting up. "Please ma'am, you should stay seated"
But Coco's mom argued, "I'm alright, besides, it'd be quite rude"
"Please ma'am, I insist"
Giving in, she had no choice to sit herself back down to the pile of cloaks on the green grass.
Take a breath in, she started, "I assume that you all, are friends of my dear Coco, I'd like to thank you all for taking care of her. I can only imagine how much of a hassle it must have been for of all you, given that she's so energetic, especially when it comes to talking about magic"
As soon as those last few words flew into the air, they all exchanged a knowing look amongst themselves.
Eventually it was Qifrey to speak up on about confusion. "Ma'am, perhaps there is something to be cleared up on about that. I think Coco would be best suitable to recount events to you"
"Just to be clear, you're telling me that you're a witch now? And that this one here is your witch master?" Coco's mom said in slight exclamation, pointing to Qifrey.
"And a witch was trying to attack your master, and you jumped to intercept it?!" She exclaimed in pure, utter, disbelief.
"Well technically, I was only trying to push master Qifrey out the way but…" Coco attempted to clarify.
"That's how you got that scar on your face??!!"
"Well, yes…"
The whole story is certainly a large pill to swallow down in one sitting; especially for someone like your mom.
Coco's mom paused for a moment, trying to catch her breathe in the process. "Let's repeat from somewhere simpler maybe?" Taking a look around before continuing, "Names again, please?"
Clearing her throat, Coco coughed, before moving her hand, pointing to her master. "Okay, this is Master Qifrey,"
Moving to point to the next, "This is our atelier's watchful eye, Olruggio,"
The same again towards her friends, "These two are Tetia, and Richeh, my fellow witch apprentices, and—"
Moving closer to Agott, Coco took the girl's hand in hers', moving closer to where her mother sat, she took a deep inhale. "And, mom this is… This is my Agott. Agott, my mom"
Silence overcame the whole group just right after the words left Coco's mouth. Such a quiet and deafening silence it was. The whole ordeal hadn't even registered at all for Coco. She remained there, in her anxious state that was growing by the second the most the silence prolonged itself.
Before finally, "Wait… wait— I meant—!! This is Agott, mom!!"
