The Murder Games

Summary:

The Absolute Solver rules the universe. In the throes of eternal boredom, it creates the Murder Games; twenty worker drones from across the galaxy, left on a wasteland of a planet, and pitted against three Disassembly Drones. Only one worker can survive, and gain the powers of the Solver.

Fifty years later, and there's more to contend with than just Murder Drones; rebels and dead bodies lurk around every corner. Something is stirring on the planet Mortem; something to do with a secret the Absolute Solver desperately wants hidden.

When a flame sparks, it burns, and what a beautiful inferno is about to erupt.

When Uzi Doorman is reaped for the Murder Games, what does she expect to happen? She's gonna die a horrible death? Not if she can help it.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Once upon a time, humans created worker drones. They were used to help the humans in every way possible, from mining coal on distant planets to serving those back on Earth as butlers and maids.

However, once you have created a sentient being, you cannot simply use them to do your dirty work. They have minds, souls, bodies that are their own.

The humans learned this too late, and were destroyed in the pursuit of their own infatuation with knowledge by the drones they had abused. The Absolute Solver razed them to the ground, attempted to destroy all traces of them. It ruled over what remained of the galaxy with an iron fist; none could oppose or rebel against the Solver.

The Absolute Solver, in its hunger to dominate, became rather like the humans it had so despised, ironically enough.

But a tyrant’s reign cannot last, even if the tyrant is immortal. Even if the tyrant seems all-powerful.

There is always hope, even for those crushed by an iron fist. One day, one drone, one chance; all it takes is one match, for a forest to catch alight.

Even if the match does not know it is being struck.
