Work Header

the significance of being insignificant

Summary:

Between being a hero, and a background character, Petra Parker has never felt seen in both. She's trans and has already accepted this fact about herself, she just needs to come out to her friends, co-workers, and more importantly, her crush. The problem? She's supposed to be Spiderman, and if she were to come out to the public, then the target suddenly lands on all of the trans girls in NYC. She doesn't want to make anyone's life worse, but she also wants to be herself.

Notes:

THERE IS NO GUARENTEE THAT THIS IS GOING TO CONTINUE. I hope this gains at least some attraction (POSITIVE T-T), especially because I barely know anything about the fandom, and I did tons of research before writing this. I just wanted to say that I tried, and I hope this is at least somewhat enough.

ANOTHER thing, there are some parts of this work that are probably completely untrue, and I'm sorry for that, but I don't have enough time in my life to make EXTENSIVE extensive research. I could only do so much.

Please enjoy and be nice :)

Notes:

my mental health sucks rn so there's no guarantee anything is gonna continue. And also I suck at AO3 stuff.

Chapter Text

Patricia Parker was never anything special. She works for the Daily (out of pure luck), and takes pictures of the apparent "Spiderman" in crime. That's what she says to everyone, and anyone who'll listen. But realistically, as cringey as it is to mention it, she fights crime for the city. Petra Parker, crime for the city, pretty rich, huh? Not so much. Let's take it from the top. Petra Parker... Petra... ugh, writing about myself sucks. I'm just so boring. Honestly, if I could share with everyone who I truly am, then life would feel so much easier, but I'm wrong. It wouldn't. Instead, I would get hunted by a multitude of villains and would get into SO MUCH danger socially. But at the same time, it sucks. truly. Every hint, every conversation, and every single mention about myself towards my friends goes KNOWHERE. It makes me pissed. Shoot-sorry about that tangent, just... sucks. Anyways, ahem, Petra Parker was bit by a radioactive spider at the age of 16 during a shift at a Summer Camp. Unfortunately at the time, Petra Parker was going through it. LIKE BAD. Petra wasn't Petra back then. Some stuff she didn't want to name at the time. Ever since she got bit, she has kept all sorts of havoc in check. She's fought Villains such as the Green Goblin, Chameleon, the Black Cat (ick by the way), and WAYYYY too many more to name.

Her best friend's are currently Ned, and Michelle.
Oh MJ.
MJ is beautiful, gorgeous even, like a goddess (if she could believe in god again.). Her eyes are beautiful like autumn leaves on a rainy day. Her hair is so unimaginably beautiful beyond comparison to any other girl Petra dated. The way her hair is the perfect length, the perfect type, even the level of how tidy her hair always is. The way she laughs, her jokes, the way she picks and choses her tone in her sentence, every single aspect just proves how photogenic she is, and the best part is that MJ is just a natural. She's so beautifully candid with every conversation. It's a grace that space could never bring for me. She's everything and anything to Petra. Petra has a HUGE crush on her, it's not that bad though. Ned said that she's already so naturally awesome and handsome beautiful, that she could "score at any time". That's what Ned says though, and everyone knows how topics like love go with Ned.
But Petra knows it's never gonna work out. She even knows why, even if her own heart can't come to terms with the forever longing.
She was never born a Petra. She wasn't even born a girl.

Fuck, I am never getting out of my own hell.
