Summary
After the events of the Fifth Holy Grail War, Rin, Shirou, and Sakura find themselves struggling to see the world as they once did. To complicate matters further, their fellow participant, Illyasviel Von Einzbern, has miraculously survived the ordeal through unknown means. When the Mage's Association gathers them together for an official recount of what transpired, Shirou takes the opportunity to try to connect with Illya, offering her a place to stay. Once the mages at Clock Tower select Rin for a preliminary course before her first year, she takes on Shirou as her apprentice so he can pursue his dreams of becoming a much stronger, much more capable mage. While not as motivated to pursue any lifelong aspirations, Sakura finds herself being similarly educated under Illya's tutelage, and the two develop an unexpectedly strong bond as they also prepare to follow Rin and Shirou to England in a year's time.
Mostly a story about everyone unpacking their baggage after the Holy Grail War. Mostly.
