Work Text:
It was already dark outside, just past 9pm, when Yelena jumped in through the window, landing on the floor as quietly as a cat.
“Seriously, do you always have to do that?”, Kate muttered from the couch, drowsily lifting her head, “We have a front door you know.”
“Doors are really overrated.”, the blonde replied with a chuckle and dropped her backpack on the floor, before walking over to her girlfriend.
“Your hair is still wet.”, the younger woman murmured as Yelena laid down beside her, pulling the brunette into her arms, “I hate that you have your office there.”
“I love it.”, the blonde replied cheekily and kissed her girlfriends forehead.
Lucky sauntered over to the couch, his tail wagging as he looked up with the purest puppy eyes and demanded his daily evening walk.
“You didn't take them outside, did you?”, Yelena asked with a sigh and sat back up to pat the space next to her.
“Noo, we had pizza and then I fell asleep watching this show, I'm sorryy!”, Kate explained, cracking her eyes open and sitting up to scoot next to her girlfriend, “Don't be mad, we can go walk him together.”
“Kate Bishop, you're impossible.”, the blonde muttered and shook her head before leaning in and softly kissing the brunette, “I wanted to make you macaroni.”
“Sorryy love, I'll make it up to you.”, Kate pouted and climbed on her girlfriends lap to cling onto her like a koala baby.
Yelena grabbed the brunette around her hips and stood up, carrying the younger woman into their shared bedroom and gently putting her down.
“I’ll go walk Lucky and Fanny alone sleepyhead, be back in half an hour.”, Yelena whispered and kissed her girlfriends forehead before walking out and whistling for their dogs.
Fanny and Lucky ran over to her and waited patiently to get their leashes attached. It was already dark outside, loud music blasting from a house a few streets over.
Clint had helped them find a nice small house just outside New York as soon as he found out about them and Yelena couldn't take it anymore with Alexei and Walker and Ava constantly flirting with her. Catching Mel and Valentina making out in some storage closet didn't help either, so here they were.
Stepping out of the front door, she wrapped her leather jacket a bit tighter around herself and started walking. Goosebumps appeared on her skin, the chilly night air making her shiver slightly. The moon was already up, being too bright against her tired eyes. In front of her the park was glowing faintly with amber streetlights, a squirrel making its way across the grass.
Fanny and Lucky took notice of the small animal and started barking, scaring it too badly and making it run away. A beautiful maroon rose was growing just a few feet away, catching the former assassin’s attention. Unclipping the leashes from the dogs collars, she let them play around while going over to the lonely flower growing next to a tree.
Fetching a pocket knife from her jacket, she positioned it against the stem and cut it off, admiring the rose now held in her palm. Sitting down and leaning onto the tree behind her back, she pulled a thin violet cord from her pocket and she started wrapping it around the flowers stem. Admiring her work, she smiled softly at the thought of her girlfriend and how much she would love the rose.
Lucky and Fanny came running over immediately when she whistled and made her way back. The music had died down and Yelena quietly opened the door, letting herself and the dogs inside. Releasing them from their leashes the ran away into the living room and she made her way upstairs to the bedroom.
Stopping in the doorframe, she smiled at the sight of her girlfriend, sprawled out on the bed. The brunettes shirt had slipped up, exposing her back to the cool night air. Walking over to the bed, the blonde sat down on the edge of the bed and tugged the covers back up over her girlfriend.
“Did you bring me a flower?”, the younger woman muttered drowsily and lifted her head.
“Found it at the park, I thought you'd like it.”, the blonde replied softly, her cheeks blushing a light shade of pink.
“It's really pretty, thank you love.”, Kate murmured and looked at the flower with one eye cracked open.
Craning her head, she placed a kiss on the blonde's cheek before patting her thigh.
“Go get bed ready, I miss you.”, she added, making Yelena stand up and walk over to the bathroom.
Kate's face lit up when the blonde came back out shortly after and she lifted the covers for her girlfriend to join her.
“I love you boo.”, the brunette whispered as she curled up against the former assassin and strong arms wrapped around her.
“I hate it when you call me that.”, Yelena muttered and kissed the younger woman's temple, “I love you too Bishop.”
“I know.”, Kale replied already half a sleep and tightened her arms around the blonde.
