Work Text:
Anthony Crowley loved his sibling, and he rather insisted upon at least somewhat regular meetings for dinner after he moved out. Asa became a regular part of these evenings as soon as he was introduced to Bee— they found his unrelenting cheerfulness entertaining, despite their own gruff nature, and now that Anthony and Asa were engaged to be married, the dinner dates had quite increased in frequency. Bee would be standing at Anthony’s side during the ceremony, and insisted on helping organize the whole thing.
The only problem with seeing Bee every Thursday evening was seeing Bee’s partner, Gabriel.
The man wasn’t all bad, of course, but he had a horrible habit of spewing well-intended jabs in Asa’s direction. Gabriel thought it best for everyone, regardless of age, occupation, or passion, to stay lean and strong, and this led to some rather awful conversations.
On this particular evening, Gabriel couldn’t seem to stop.
Asa stood for a second plate of shepherd’s pie, and Gabriel scoffed. Asa accepted another glass of wine from his host, and Gabriel laughed. Anthony piled whipped cream on his fiancee’s pie, and Gabriel finally spoke.
“Really, sunshine are you sure you need that? Just a bunch of sugar and carbs! You oughta be a lean, mean, fighting machine for the wedding!” He exclaimed, a bit of humor in his tone as he punched the air a few times with that stupid grin on his face—
Asa’s face turned red, his fingers drifting to fidget with the hem of his waistcoat.
Who could really blame Anthony for making a punch of his own, hitting with a crack against Gabriel’s nose, making Asa squeak and Bee crow with shocked, proud laughter?
Anthony would regret nothing, and he would insist upon passing the evening worshipping his love’s precious softness.
