Summary
"But ultimately, and against his better judgement, Will Byers loved Mike Wheeler more than he wanted to die. Of course he did. They were intertwined, like kite strings tangled from windy summer days or crisscrossed wires poking out of the TV in Mike’s basement. Mike Wheeler was the mud under Will’s fingernails, the bruises on his knuckles, the air in his lungs. Mike asked Will to run. Will asked how far. Mike asked Will to live, so Will obliged."
Or; a Will Never Found AU, where everything is different, and yet much the same.
