Psalm of the Damned

Summary:

It's been a few years since Spoke discovered Mapicc is alive. Since then, Spoke's taken over the server with Ashswag by his side.

Wemmbu, hidden under the false identity of The Invisible Knight, didn't want to end up in another war.

Despite different stories, one thing is true. No one is safe, for the new era of Unstable is upon us all...

Or,

Spoke is evil, hella powerful, and wants to parody the Hunger Games. Wemmbu doesn't want to be here. Nothing ends well.

Chapter Text

It’s a long way to the top, or in this case, ruler of an entire server. In no way is it an easy task. Only those who are powerful enough can make it.

Spokeishere is one of those few. Runs in the family. A few years ago, his cousin, Ashswag, ruled the server. His empire fell to the hands of Spoke and his friends. To understand why Ash proudly stood beside Spoke now is a long story.

Despite making it to the top, there wasn’t much to do. Spoke regularly went to meetings, listened to boring things he didn’t care about, maintained his alliances, and kept eyes on the Rebellion—a smart leader doesn’t just have one mole.

Most of the meetings pertained to taking care of new budding rebellions, trade, and future plans for the server. All stuff Spoke was super interested in!

Which is how he found himself stepping foot onto the elevator in the main building of Capital City. Ash stood to his right, per usual. The Invisible Knight stood to his left, seeming just as uninterested as Spoke was. A group of five guards had already gone up first. Five more would come after the three of them.

Capital City was the first alliance he’d made during his rise to power. It wasn’t long after gaining the Invis Players at Ash’s castle. Spoke had allowed them to uninvis—he didn’t need to be a copycat.

After them, he’d announced he needed a little bug to squish. It was at this time that Ash announced he had stuff to do—unsurprisingly. So Spoke and the players set out to find the leader of BAT, Leow0ok.

Leo had been a thorn in Spoke’s side since the day he decided to hunt down the Director. Subsequently, the cause of Spoke’s missing eye and persistent migraines. However, he’d been no match for the new army. They’d been fully equipped with netherite and maxed-out sets.

Spoke got to deliver the final blow, reeling in Leo’s plea. He savored the memory, burned it into his head. Of course, he kept his promise, sticking the sword through Leo’s left eye and pulling it out. Only then did he put Leo out of his misery. Beaming as when he withdrew his sword, the beautiful sound of the death message appearing and Leo’s items pooling on the ground. An eye for an eye, old friend.

Leow0ok was slain by Spokeishere using [Power Blade].

Leow0ok left the game.

And gods, if that wasn’t music to his ears, he wasn’t sure what it was. In that moment, all the remaining spies of BAT and even Jumper’s most trusted ran to Spoke. He’d never tire of this. It was pure euphoria.  He was the fire, and they were the moths.

Word quickly spread around the server of his victory. The rapidly growing faction, Law, wanted to get Spoke. He was too slippery for them, though. It wasn’t hard to rally more players to join Spoke in his quest to ‘destroy’ Law.

Ash appeared soon after. He’d been surprised to see a representative of Capital City inviting Spoke to meet with Reddoons, the mayor. It was a tentative agreement, unsure of what Red could want.

Alliance. Reddoons wanted an Alliance! He’d lend Spoke his army and guards whenever he needed them, and the full public support of Capital City. The catch was, Spoke and his army would have to help Capital City if Law decided to wage war, as well as give them some extra resources.

Faster than ever, the support for Spoke grew. The players were so naive, so easily trusting. They really thought Spoke was going to save them! It was adorable! Not to mention, he was far more charismatic compared to his fear-inducing cousin.

Ironic though. He defeated Leo, aka BAT which was supposed to take out players harming the other members of the server. He opposed Law, which was supposed to protect the server from players like him. That was all Pre-Reddoons anyway.

With the support from Capital City, all the civilians looked up to Spoke, since he’d helped protect them from the bandits. Law had ignored the problem. Spoke stepped up; he was their savior.

During this time, was the first time Spoke and Ash had been introduced to Capital City’s best fighter, but refused to take the roles offered to him. Real Robin Hood guy. They didn’t meet them, but the pair saw them fighting against a bright green guy that worsened Spoke’s migraines.

The fighter was known as the Invisible Knight, and had been fighting the bandits attacking the city for awhile now. The Knight even had a mace, but hardly used it. Sounded familiar…Spoke didn’t spare much thought other than the potential use this Knight could have for the Army.

After Capital City, their power grew slightly. It wasn’t as rapid as before. However, they’d agreed to set their sights on Merchant City. Reddoons was ecstatic with the idea—anything for more income.

The battle lasted a few days, but the Vanguard had severely underestimated the quality of the Army. Ash did well as Spoke’s right hand/top general. The soldiers fell in line with the snap of a finger.

Reddoons and Spoke agreed to split the inevitable earnings 55-45. They had no intentions to change how the city ran, just under a different management. That had gained Spoke’s Army much more support and members.

As a result, they had to do dealings with the Nether. Aka, ClownPierce. Spoke was not prepared for the meeting. Clown still resided in his mind as someone who wanted him dead and almost killed him on multiple occasions. The Executioner, as Ash deemed him.

Upon entering the Nether, Spoke, Ash, and a few of their guards were welcomed with open arms. It turned out Ash had spoken to Clown about an alliance awhile ago, and he was already very interested.

The deal was fairly simple. Spoke and his army would have access to the Nether whenever they wished, as long as they didn’t take resources without strict approval. The Nether was also allowed to do business in Merchant City per usual, and would gain more profits. Otherwise, it was a normal alliance.

When the announcement of the alliance spread, more players grew loyal to Spoke. A significantly higher surge than the deal with Capital City. Before long, they had equal numbers—if not larger—than Law.

Soon the wars came, with Spoke’s Army annexing land. From small factions to large ones. The Battle for the Great Sea turned the tide in the wars. It was a grueling fight, but the Army won swiftly, and they also acquired The Invisible Knight. Next, the Law fell in The End nearly instantly, despite beating Spoke’s older brother and the End Guardian, MinuteTech. They fled to the Rebellion, which whispers had begun passing through the server. No one knew much about them.

Finally, the Server was practically his. Spawn was easy enough to conquer. Within weeks, the Withers were defeated, the griefing had been removed, and a 9x9 pit of lava was placed at the world spawn. As of now, the main server needed to fall in line before new players joined. Around spawn, he’d built his castle.

The Castle mimicked that of the Mafia. It was foreboding in its void-like nature. It was built out of Blackstone, deepslate, and black concrete. Jagged spikes were poking at the sky on every roof. Think Vlad the Impaler’s Transylvanian Castle, but in all black. The windows were red-stained glass.

All the guards and commanders had similar armor trims. They all wore netherite. The regular guards would have only netherite. The guards between regular guards and commanders wore redstone or quartz flow-trimmed chest plates. The Commanders—all except for the Invisible Knight—wore flow on both chestplate and helmet in either quartz or redstone.

After a year of fighting, persuasion, and flawless charming, Spoke won. Anyone who dared question him was slaughtered on the spot. Mercy was pitiful unless, of course, it was used properly. Effective, no?

Consequently, he was subjected to meetings, sitting around, and keeping the Rebellion at bay, etc. It was considerably more boring than almost everything he’d done. Sure, they were crucial to maintaining the balance in the server, but they were still boring.

The Rebellion thought they were more powerful than they were. Every one of their attempts had failed. They never breached Spoke’s castle walls. That was truly pitiful. He couldn’t find it in himself to care.

What hurt the most was that Mapicc was the front of the whole thing. He was supposed to be dead! Whoever that was, wearing his best friend’s skin, needed to go. It made Spoke seethe, and hatred for the Rebellion burn brighter.

Back in the Farlands, Spoke didn’t trust his eyes. The player that had been standing there before him couldn’t be Mapicc. Mapicc was dead; Spoke got him killed. Spoke had shook, and instead of hugging, lunged at Mapicc, drawing his fishing rod.

Whoever this player was would regret pretending to be his dead best friend. He slashed Mapicc across the face, sending him stumbling backwards. Fear and pain coated Mapicc’s face.

“What the hell, Spoke?” Mapicc had cried, blood dripping out of the cut on his face. Mapicc didn’t have any armor on. The inevitable scar cut from above his right eye, across his nose bridge, just below his left eye, and curled under his jaw.

“Stop pretending to be him!” Spoke exclaimed in return, refusing to let the tears pricking his eye spill. Mapicc’s mouth opened, and his frightened eyes softened. Parrot attempted to cool the situation down, but Spoke refused.

Grabbing Ash by the crook of his arm, he’d walked off. Ash’s laughter echoed in the valley.

The elevator finally stopped on the top floor. Reddoons sat at the head of a large spruce conference table. A giant window on the opposite wall overlooked Capital City and all the players running around.

Red greeted them with a smile and motioned for them to sit. His deep red skin popped out against the birch walls behind him. His slightly darker hair was slicked back like a 1920s CEO. He wore a maroon velvet suit with a black tie and shoes. They complemented his sunglasses, which Spoke was unsure if they could even come off. In Red’s breast pocket sat the chain of an old pocket watch.

Spoke took his seat on Red’s right, closer to the elevator. Ash sat down next to him. Spoke’s guards were positioned behind them, pressed against the wall. The Invisible Knight stood directly behind Spoke and Ash. Red only had two guars behind him.

Minutes later, the doors opened again to reveal ClownPierce with his own trailing of players. Ferre was usually with him, but the Rebellion had been trying the Nether recently.

Clown was dressed in his usual Jester suit. Red and black, white mask with giant horns, the whole schtick. He was a mimic, and that was the form he chose. Red was a simple slime hybrid—they could come in all colors.

On Red’s left, Clown pulled out a chair and waved his guards to stand behind him before sitting down.

“Gentlemen! Isn’t it nice to all be back together again?” Reddoons announced, clapping his hands together and putting  his best salesman smile forward. Spoke arched an eyebrow and looked over at Clown. It was hard to tell his emotions with the ever-smiling mask.

“Perhaps under different circumstances, yes.” Clown replied curtly, resting his chin on a propped-up hand.

“Different, as in non-business-related?” Spoke inquired, relaxing back in his chair.

“Different, as in the Rebellion launched another attack on the Nether.” Clown spat bitterly, lifting his head and tilting it. Red hissed, recoiling slightly.

Ash stood up, walking toward the double doors on the other side of the room. He opened them and instantly, all the guards in the room filtered into it. It was customary. The meetings were private, and between the leaders only.

The Invisible Knight looked at Ash blankly. Sometimes they went in the room; sometimes they stayed. A small smirk crept up on Ash’s face. He whispered something to them, and they shoulder-checked him as they went in.

“How many times is that now?” Ash asked, returning to his seat beside Spoke.

“Four. Just this month,” Clown sighed. “We don’t have the resources to keep this up.”

“Who leads it? The troops?” Spoke pressed, leaning forward now.

“I believe Ferre told me.” Clown answered. From his mouth flowed the voice of Ferre, in near verbatim. “Flamefrags was spotted with Law again, sir. One is goi—“ The voice cut off. Clown’s shoulders tightened as the mimicry finished. It was always a bit disturbing when he did that, Spoke thought.

“Quite the unlikely pair,” Ash commented under his breath while Red spoke up.

“What supplies do you need?” He forced a tight-lipped smile onto his face. Clown relaxed a bit.

“Golden Apples, carrots would be nice, and really food overall.” He said, a hint of defeat in his voice.

Spoke stayed silent. The Rebellion had been an annoying little pest that you couldn’t quite catch but kept circling you for awhile now. He just wasn’t sure how the hell to manage it. They’d been attacking his allies, not him. How to teach them that none of them should be trifled with was the question.

“I have an idea, my friends. It may take care of our little rebel problem.” Spoke declared, a smirk spreading across his face.
