Chapter Text
-*crackle*GAHH!! PLEASE!! The black box, it’s in the bottom of the—oh my god!! OH MY GO—!!-
Simon feels his heart drop. He feels a wave of dread wash over him. He sinks down to his knees, pressing his palms into his eyes so that when he opens them he sees colours dance across his vision. That was his last possible escape from this hell that he'd been welded into. Ava was gone, Simon was next.
It's too dangerous. It's too... Had to... Why do I need to do this?! Why only you?! Why you, Simon?! WHY YOU?! Our blood is on your hands. How many more bodies will you climb over to save yourself? Always thinking of the life you'll never get back. Thinking of a mother who wouldn't even recognize the killer she spawned. Or maybe she'd be proud. Is death the only thing she taught you?! Half-measured! Half-committed! NEVER ENOUGH! There is nothing else for us now!
The strangled chaos of voices whose owners were long dead cut into him like knives. The voice making it known to Simon just how fucked he really was. He didn't want to believe it, he really didn't.. but.. there was something in the back of his head that did. How many people had died just for him to end up like this? What could he do? What now?..... Anger rushes through Simon and overtakes his brain. He wasn't just going to sit back and wallow, not after everything he's already been through.. he has to do something. There has to be something.
"Nothing else"? What do you know? You're just a piece of shit that doesn't even know it's dead. What do you know?!
-h-hello? Yeah, I know Rock I'm probably just being crazy, but I swear I heard something…... Yes I know you would have heard it too but I just have to check. Uhm.. is anyone.. there?-
A new voice comes over the radio, cutting through the noise filling Simon's mind. He perks up craning his neck to look at the radio. The voice is much sweeter than Simon had heard in a long, long time. The way the tones of the strange man's voice flow together through the sentences spoken is almost calming. Simon wasn't falling for it. It had to be another trick. It had to be someone else dangling freedom in front of his face to get him to drag himself into a worse position than he was now... if that was even possible.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME NOW? HAVE I NOT DONE ENOUGH FOR YOU? Listen, even if I wanted to, I don't think I can do anything else for you now." Simon spat the words angrily at the speaker.
-"HOLY MOLY I DID HEAR SOMEONE.. ahem sorry uhm.. I'm not quite sure what you're talking about but it sounds like you need some help.. a- are you uh- do you?... need help?”-
“Help? Why would you help!? OF COARSE I NEED FUCKING HELP.. Y- YOU PUT ME HERE!? YOU FUCKING LEFT ME TO DIE AND NOW YOUR ASKING IF I NEED HELP!? He was getting more exasperated by the second. He stood now examining the speaker as if it would give him a clue to what was actually happening here.
-“Uh- I- I uhm what?.. I'm- woah thats- I'm so sorry that happened to you but I think you're confusing me with someone else.. listen if you give me your coordinates we can come help you”-
Simon's mind was reeling. “There's no way, this can't be real.” Simon started muttering under his breath not really caring if the stranger could hear him or not. “it has to be the eel then… there's no way… It can't be.. I'm not falling for it, I can't.”
-“Eel? What eel? You know what, never mind I'll find out later.. I promise I'm real.. uhm- im not.. exactly sure what im supposed to say to being accused of being fake hah.. sorry not the time to laugh”-
The laugh danced playfully on Simon's mind even with the stressed undertones it held. He waved it off.. Now was definitely not the time for laughing. However he couldn't help but relish the sound.. It calmed him.
“... who are you?.. w- what do you want from me?”
-“Oh…. I don't want anything from you. I would.. Just like to help.. if- if you need.”-
“I'll give you my coordinates but that doesn't mean I trust you”
-“Okay….. thank you.”-
Simon could feel the eels presence as he gave the stranger his coordinates. It was growing inpatient. It was trying to reach him… or maybe it already has, in the form of this new angelic voice promising Simon's safety. He couldn't quite tell.
A drip of blood fell from the ceiling onto Simon's head. The whole sub jerked forward violently. The eel got Simon's attention finally.
“There is no escape from this… he cannot save you.. WHY.. WHY DO YOU DO THIS?? Simon you can't… there is nothing left… I CANT LET YOU!”
Long sharp teeth sunk deep into the sub, narrowly missing Simon himself. Simon at first dazed, snapped back to the reality of his situation. He hoped so dearly that his stranger would help him.
-“Hello?... what's happening?”-
The voice sounded panicked, scared for Simon, even though he had heard him for the first time only minutes ago.
The teeth retract from the sub leaving giant holes in their place. Hot blood starts to bubble up through the floor and floods in from the ceiling of Simon's iron coffin.
“Shit shit SHIT SHIT SHIT!!” Simon was yelling now he was completely panicking, there was nothing he could do. The blood was at his ankles now and it BURNED. A thought struck Simon hard in the chest… the black box.. Ava told him to get the black box. He had to at least do that.
-“Talk to me! What's going on!??-
The blood sloshed around Simon's feet as he made his way to the hatch in the floor. He dropped himself into the hole, the blood coming up to his waist and seeping through his clothes. It stuck to Simon as he submerged himself fully and made his way towards the end of the tunnel where he knew the black box rested. Spasms of pure agony run through Simon's body. He feels like he's burning alive, like he's swimming in acid.
The glass that encased the seed hanging around Simon's left arm cracks. It starts growing around Simon's hand and wrist but he is too busy to notice.
He reaches the black box and makes his way back, gasping for air when he surfaces. Simon puts the black box down so he can climb out of the hatch. He screams out in agony. Simon feels a stabbing, searing pain in his cheek, he feels as though it's splitting in two. He starts trying to swipe off the blood clinging to his skin. There's no use in that he gives up and leans his hand on the side of the sub.
“FUCK!”
-“Are you okay? Please tell me you're okay! We're coming, hang on.”-
“Theres blood! Holes in the sub! I won't last long I don't think.. JUST HELP.. PLEASE! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!”
Teeth crunch down into the sub again flooding more blood into the small space. Simon tries to move but his arm is stuck to the pipe he was resting it on. Vines coming from that small little seed had almost entirely encased his left arm and had spread onto the ship. Firmly attaching him to the wall
Simon tried to pull free but the vines weren't breaking. He pulled harder, feeling his flesh tearing and ripping at the bicep. He pulled with the very last of his strength. He had to get free, he had to get free, he had to get free.
His arm pulled apart. Simon was free but his left arm still wasn't. It was sticking straight out on the wall where he left it.
Simon backed away his stump bleeding profusely. His nerves screamed in agony but Simon had too much adrenaline flowing through him to notice the pain. He grabbed the seed. Even after what it had done, it was his only way of remembering home. He curled up on the floor with the black box and seed clutched tightly to him. There was nothing he could do, he was going to die here.
“I don't want to do this… Simon.. WE HATE.. why do you have to defy us.. I DIDN'T WANT TO… YOU FORCED US..”
The eel's jaw crashed down directly where Simon stood… everything was gone.. Simon was left alone.
