Summary
Wednesday hasn’t been back to the beach club in five years, since the summer she told Enid Sinclair she loved her, gave a postal address, and received silence. By twenty-one, she has a published novel, a Columbia degree, a new best friend, and a life waiting in Edinburgh at the start of September.
She is not here for Enid.
(She is, in fact, here for Enid. Bianca has known since they left for France.)
Enid is twenty-one, freshly graduated, and alone in a three-bedroom family suite. Her relationship with Ajax ended in May in a way neither of them fully communicated.
She is not waiting for Wednesday.
(She has, in fact, been waiting. Yoko has known since 2024.)
The pool is cold, deep, and also, regrettably, where they reunite.
Starring: a girl who left before morning, a girl who stayed too long, and a season that was never going to survive.
